MasterRabbink I think they are introducing too many novels to translate tbh. If you think about it, the tens of thousands of novels they have in the Chinese Site isn't really costing them anything, much like the originals here, but the novels they bring here has a translator and editor cost that's piling up every month. So it might become a burden if they can't get enough people to pay for their novels and it may not be a good idea to dilute your finite number of readers into more novels. They may be depending on the future growth, but i wouldn't be too sure about that either.

Not everyone likes to read web novels. The biggest reason why people start reading web novels is because they are free. You can't lose anything but some of your time and that is why people tolerate the undesirable sides of web novels. You can't go screaming about free food as long as it's not totally spoiled with maggots crawling over. But when you make it so the price is at the same or even over the level of something like Amazon Kindle, then they also become a competitor. After all, people have a finite time and money to spend on reading. There is no arguing that the published books in Amazon are a step over in quality compared to the most novels here and there is much more to choose from. The only thing the Amazon may be losing in would be the eastern fantasy(wuxia/xianxia) type of novels, but Amazon has plenty of Western Fantasy and some that even incorporate the cultivation style...

Well, i sure hope they can keep going even if i don't agree with the way they do things, as if they pull out from the international scene, we get nothing. As long as they keep in business, where there is a will, there is a way to read...

N0xiety it doesn't matter because they are already doing segregated pricing. Why do you think the series are separated into premium, adwall, and free? What criteria do you think they can use to determine which series is turned from free to adwall or premium?

Remember:they can count bonus ss, bought ss and users reading series. They can most likely get geographic location as well.

MaryFord Why do i think the novels have segragated pricing? It's for the frog in boiling water effect. As a novel is released, it starts free, then transitions into adwall and finally goes into full premium if it is popular enough. So it's just a way to warm the water slowly while hoping the frogs(readers) get used to it. Some will for sure get used to it or not care as they have heat shields(too much money to care), but most of the frogs who don't have heat shields atleast have a human brain to protect them, so i don't think it will be that effective and they will jump out before the water boils...

They want you to read for free, it's not like they would made the free stones timed or somethin-......oh wait

Serioisn't now they just took 3 more novels from gravity tales. I just hate it how the translators were like we want you to enjoy the novel with us. And now. MONEMONEYMONEY. I just realised that how much money reigns the world. Man even YouTube is for free. And the creators of those contents don't want money directly from the viewers. That just shows how grown up this website is. It just makes me sad.

DeJeL yeah using the free ss I stick with true world martial and swallowed star

It's silly that they have not said anything about it, bug or intended. They could make a lot more money from a lot of people if they just added a way to view a bunch of adds for ss, lots of people could just run it in the background. Plus twice I actually tried paying for SS didn't work cause this site produced an error so oh well for them.

I just read a thing on the app: now daily won ss expired after 30 days instead of 120... QI is evil !!!! 😭

They already have regional prices on the app. In the UK if you buy in app you have to pay £9.99 for something that costs $9.99 on the website. £9.99 is $12.90

Same here, I've bought SS to read some novels because I knew that other novels will have free daily chapters. For example, I often start a new novel with a bunch of premium chapter (at least a hundred), I will pay SS to get to latest released chapter, then I will stop reading it (at the end of a mini arc) until a certain number of premium chapters has been released; in the meantime I'll read some other novels with free chapters or adwall or premium (but by using my free SS). Then when the previous novel has again enough released chapters, I buy them. However, if there is no free daily premium, it means that I would have to pay each chapter released since I stopped reading. Therefore, even if at some point I want to stop reading the novel for a year, no free chapters would have been released and I would have to pay a huge amount of money to get to the last chapter.
I'm sorry but I would never pay something like that, I would rather stop reading or finding an alternative

N0xiety so why are you for regional pricing if you understand this?

Regional pricing will just discourage people from affluent nations to pay more because the benefit is less. That is because the system in place gives a difference in benefits based on the # of ss that a user has.

Let's boycott this app on play store maybe this might get their attention , we need to show them power of free readers ,those who agree please like and share this

Disperson by deleting the app and rating it 1 star I guess

If you have a login via the app, You can also login and buy via the web in which you use paypal. Its hard to tell which one is more cheaper buy for 9.99 USD i can get 500 + 100 bonus SS. How does that equate to buying via the app?

Marshala Same, just Webnovel need to pay 30% fee to Google or Apple. This is why you couldn't buy Amazon product with Google Play or Apple App Store. Apple and Google didn't allow double pricing between their website and the iAP.

Disperson They've stopped releases free chapters for premiuim novel and didn't say anything for the past 5 days. This is obviously to make us pay ss, which we obviously cannot afford. I suggest everybody to rate the app 1 star. If they don't fix their shit, I'm out and going to gravity tales.

N0xiety you know that digital games are different from digital books, right?

LastEmailDeleted That's because of the Play Store & App Store. It's not Webnovel making the effort to use regional prices or something.

kulmai actually I think that the daily SS 30 day expire has been going on for quite some time now. I think from the start of this year? it's deffinitely not something new. I know I didnt notice the change and the site and app didn't even show you correct number of stones that expired each day so ppl kept loosing stones. (BTW I dont like it either)

                                cordon majority of us don't...
The ones who spend are like 10% of the total readers( That's the estimate I made from reading other comments in other posts also).
So QI is going for that 10% and totally neglecting the 90% of the readers....

Funnily enough, the translators always try to have the higher morale ground; to support the author etc.
Succh bullshit, I tell you. We don't know whether the money truly goes to their pockets or straight to QI (translators). For all I know, the authors are only paid the money according to contract and not getting any cut from our SS because the contract they signed back then didn't include international readers.

Yep. Nobody knew. However, you could read Qidian's financial statement. As a public company like Google and Apple, they had to report their income. Webnovel as a child company usually would also be reported. Including in the report perhaps the amount 'paid' to the authors. If they didn't pay the author, there would be complaint.

However, similar to Apple, Google, and Amazon, the transparency is hard. We don't know the 'algorithm' and the detail. Actually I believe you don't care. Only the author and translator would care. (There is one who quit Webnovel, because he lost his Patreon and didn't believe in Qidian calculation. However, some are still in here.)

People, including me only care their 'free' thing turned paid.

A contracted author had already got the payment. I also don't think Qidian would dare not to pay some Chinese authors because of Webnovel's income, they would lose authors if they did that.

Based on I read, giving free chapters already making some complaints from the authors from China. This things happened then.

PS: I think only few fans-translator shared Patreon with original authors. So they have never tried that morale ground.

SS should just be a way to donate, not force us to pay. If we like the story just let us decide if we want to donate SS and not force us to pay to read the story we like. It is not our duty to pay someone who is writing a story because they want to, it should be an option.
