I use both. I write my first draft in Word. Proof-read it and spell-check it. Paste it into Inkstone. Then I proof-read it in Ink Stone. I usually end up editing parts here and there again. I finish up in Inkstone and copy that and paste it back into word for a final spell check. It's a bit of a weird process for me but I find it helps me when I look at it in two different editor windows. It lets me catch some things I'd miss otherwise for some reason. I also do another proof-reading after the ones mentioned above if I feel like my writing was subpar that day.
Some advice for all authors. Turn off MS Word autocorrect and just do spelling checks at the end instead. Word will still let you know if you need to fix sentences or words. I've obtained the below benefits from turning off autocorrect:
1. Improved typing accuracy.
2. Improved spelling. I actually think about how to spell words now instead of over-relying on auto-correct. It's amazing how bad my spelling had become due to over-reliance on it.
3. NO MORE AUTOCORRECTING FIST INTO FIRST. DAMNIT MICROSOFT. MY MC AIN'T PUNCHING PEOPLE WITH HIS DAMNED FIRST! This is honestly the reason I turned it off lol. I also noticed other little spelling auto-corrects I'd miss. I'd be like, I know I fucking spelled that right when I wrote it! My sanity has improved significantly since turning off auto-correct. Lol.
