The current comment system is a really basic and difficult-to-use thing. For now, it's only listing the comments in the order of the time of posting. However, this tends to hide a lot of the better quality comments that are hidden at the bottom of comment threads.
Another problem is that it's impossible to see the discussion thread of any comment. First of all, there's no indicator on any comment to show how many replies it already has. In addition, the replies only contain an extract of the first line of the comment it's replying to, but there's no way to see the rest of the parent comment. Even in my inbox, if I get a reply, when I click on the link to the parent comment, all I see is the entire comment section of that chapter. I have to hunt through the comment section to find my comment, which isn't easy because the comments at the bottom only load when I scroll to the bottom of the page.
Hence my suggestions are these:
1. Allow the comments to be sorted/arranged in a number of ways. The two ways I am talking about right now are - a) according to the time of posting, b) according to the number of "Likes"
2. At the bottom of every comment, leave a link that tells us the number of replies it has, as well as takes us to the replies of the comment. Something like the 4chan system would be awesome.
3. For every reply, instead of only leaving an extract to the parent comment, leave a link to the parent comment instead, like the above suggestion.
I'm not asking for a reddit-style thread system, which would be complicated to even design, but the 4chan style system, which would easily fit into the existing design that the site already uses.
Thanks for listening!
