Can Qi do anything about the new translators? Such as making sure the terminology is the same as before? It feels like reading mtl
OEM translation quality dropped
I gave up on OEM after this last two releases. If it wasnt premium I would have maybe given it a chance, but the translation is really not up to task.
One could get used to different terminology in a few chapters, but grammatical errors, sentence construction, vocabulary are the real killers here
Can you even imagine if this translator where to translate some of the more refined chapters in OEM like the wine competition or the scholarly challange where there is also poetry involved.
Dont think I could bare it.
I have to agree when we see phrases like "Quietly, Jun Mo Xie's extremely full diaphragm started to move slowly". I'm unsure to what extent it is a mistranslation where a word has two different meanings and wrong one is applied (classic MTL error) or if TL has simply never heard of a dantian.
"This idiotic immortal actually treated an immortal's cultivated baby as him being pregnant… " where I assume that a cultivated baby is a nascent soul.
As a scary aside a diaphragm is a contraceptive device and as TL is talking about cultivated babies and pregnancy I don't know if TL has completely misinterpreted meaning or translated a double entendre really badly.
Sentence construction like "His disappearance duration was unnecessarily too long", "After a look, Jun Mo Xie seemed to understand it but not really too… " or "Just another mankind!" seem a bit awkward, incomplete or unnatural.
There is a lack of literary flair that is a bit subjective but it means that reading most descriptions feels like reading a scientific report rather than a novel.
Considering that some of translations seem off, sentence structure and grammar seem off then is there even more that is more subtle that I have missed or figured it was plausible when it was actually wrong
AnnoyingADs "king of snake" is also a good example. Like, one, it should be plural, but the way things are translated you need context to tell when to pluralize words. But also Snake King is the rationalized version which is also the previous version, because it's a title/ proper noun.

AnnoyingADs Actually there are two meanings to diaphragm, the one you talk about and a second one is from the following:
https://www.healthline.com/health/diaphragm-pain
a mushroom-shaped muscle that sits beneath your lower-to-middle rib cage. Your diaphragm helps you breathe by lowering when you inhale, in that way, allowing your lungs to expand.
It is generally used for singing (how you don't sing with your throat but with your diaphragm). And that is actually a close enough translation of dantian if you do not want to use pinyin.
Either way, I'll report this book to send for QA which will likely put it on hiatus again.
Just rate every chapter 1 star
I hope qi rescinds the premium tag on this novel because at the moment it doesnt deserve it
Oh man I just got back into OEM after letting like 20 chapters build up and now I don't even know if I can continue. I'm pretty sure this is a premium MTL which is terrible.
