two part question

1) when it says views, does it mean the amount of people that have looked at the synopsis or how any people have actually read the chapters?

2) Why is it so hard to actually get people to read new original novels? TT

I've put out chapters for a while no but so far i only have 51 collections. Is it that hard for anyone else or is it just me. I've been doing it for two months btw.

New originals typically only have 3 sources of viewers/collections.
    1. People that actively search new novels. This is only good for a few days before your book gets buried beneath other new books.
    2. Advertising. Whether it be on Webnovel forums, your facebook friends, or any other methods you try.
    3. Contest views. If your book is entered into a contest when first started, you'll get viewers from it.

    To clarify terminology.
    - A view is whenever anyone opens your novel page or chapter. A single view per session. So someone reading your entire book at once would count as 1 view. Someone closing it and reopening it the next day would count as 2 views.
    - A collection is whenever someone adds the book to their library to keep reading it.

So how do new authors manage to gain further popularity? There are three methods.
    1. If your book is really good, then it will naturally rise through the ranks even if you rarely update it. This is very rare, and you shouldn't expect it.
    2. Daily updates. This is the best method for most newbies. Update your novel with at least 1 chapter every day and you'll eventually be selected for the daily update section on the front page. Views and collections will roll in on that day.
    3. Trending originals section. Similar to above, except it isn't based on random chance. A curator selects novels to feature for 3 days in trending originals. It can also be applied for through discord, but you'll want a good number of chapters under your belt before trying to apply.

Once you've succeeded at all of the above, you'll probably settle down at your book's natural rank. Views and collections will continue coming in each day, but you'll likely stop climbing in rank. For example, my book typically sits around rank 50. If I'm on trending, then I might rise to around rank 40 for a week.

In addition to what I've wrote above, just know that daily updates are almost a requirement for most novels. That's how we get loyal readers and voters that allow a rise in rank to attract more readers and voters. Even non-daily novels in the top 100 usually upload at least 4 or 5 chapters per week.

FluffyKiller 2) Why is it so hard to actually get people to read new original novels? TT

Because life is fleeting, most novels are shit, and people don't want to spend precious irredeemable seconds on something terrible when there are better alternatives?

...I mean, those are the excuses I tell myself, anyways.

How much time will it take to update my novel cover

Yes, it is very hard. Those books that have alot are promoted by webnovels.

I did an experiment and saw that my harem (lewd harem) got promoted and was given a free contract too lol. I feel so sad for my normal stories that have no promotions.
