Christian Horner: Woman to appeal against Red Bull decision to dismiss complaint

The woman who made allegations about Christian Horner's behavior will appeal Red Bull's decision to ignore her complaint.

The woman, who was last week suspended from her position by Red Bull, accused the team principal of inappropriate and controlling behaviour.

He will ask Red Bull to reconsider their decision, which was taken following an investigation carried out by lawyers.

Horner, 50, has always denied the allegations leveled against him.

The allegations against Horner came to light in early February but an investigation into his behavior had begun almost a month earlier.

Red Bull appointed external lawyers to investigate the claims. After the report was submitted to the company board, the company board decided to reject the complaint.

The following day, a number of messages claiming to involve Horner were leaked to almost 150 senior F1 insiders and media.

Horner said it was "time to draw a line in the sand" on the controversy amid continued speculation about the independence of the investigation and Red Bull's reasons for taking the decision.

The whistleblower's decision to fight Red Bull's actions is a further indication that the controversy is likely to continue for some time.

If Red Bull again rejects the woman's case, she has the option to take legal action against Red Bull and Horner.

Red Bull declined to provide further details about the case, citing confidentiality, and said it “cannot comment” on the reasons for the woman's dismissal.

BBC Sport previously reported that the reason Red Bull gave the employee was because he was dishonest.

Red Bull's engine partner Honda has requested further details on the matter.

Horner said at last weekend's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: “The reality is that there was a complaint made, it was dealt with in the most professional way by the group, who appointed an independent KC, one of the most reputable in the country.

“He took the time to investigate all the facts. He looked at everything and came to a conclusion where he ignored the complaints.

“As far as I'm concerned, as far as Red Bull is concerned, we're moving forward.”

The controversy is at the center of a power struggle within Red Bull, involving Horner, motorsport adviser Helmut Marko, the team's three-time world champion Max Verstappen and his father Jos and manager Raymond Vermeulen, as well as two of the company's owners.

Last weekend, Max Verstappen's intervention was instrumental in keeping Marko from being sacked.
