Hi everyone. I'm a new writer and I'm currently facing a big problem.
By my plot plan, I have to change the name of my main character in the chapter I'm currently writing (29) however I think that might not be liked to my readers.
Should I skip this from my plot or simply stick to the plan.

Throw in a plausible motivation for the change in name (Escaping justice with a new identity? FBI protection program? Terrorists’ group infiltration?).
Trying to be more specific, why do you need to change his/her name?
maybe if he has ability to like change his looks or if he can go into like an undercover mission which forces him to change into a different name or if he is forced to change him name due to family estrangement/if he broke the law. then you could build a second identity for him
what's the genre btw? and also the reason for the name change

If it's for plot, then just make him have to change it as part of hiding or as accepting a new identity he wanted or something.
If it's because you don't like the original name you chose, then it depends. Is your book popular? If no, then just go and edit your old chapters and let the readers know about the change as you publish your next chapter. If your book is popular, then it's up to you whether you want to risk alienating readers by making the change or not.
