Shameless promotions should be the bread and butter of hungry begginners!
Xiaoyiyi8 I think you should start by reviewing your own work! Its recommended on the book of authors to do it, so who I am to say otherwise. Nevertheless, I understand how you feel! I will read your work and then comment on it, maybe do a review, if you want me to. But it may take a couple of days...
Lord_of_sleep I share that feeling too. Hours of work invested in a carefully made chapter and when it fails to get the response I expected can be depressing. But then I also may get a couple of comments in a chapter that did not considered to be valuable enough. So I guess it depends on the eye of the reader and his personal preferences?
So_mi I guess slang and proverbial phrases are problematic to everyone that is writing in a different language. I try my best to not delete anything but yes, once in awhile I have deleted a sentence or two because of that. its inevitable sometimes...
I often feel that I having the most basic grammar and spelling errors and other times I believe that my phrases are unnecessarily complicated and sophisticated. Sometimes both feelings happen at the same time.
I want people to comment the story and interact with me, and yet I am also afraid of complaints that my work not being good enough!
But since there are people telling me that they like the story and want more chapters, I try to do my best at writing. Also, the main character (the witch Zanthia) had been in my mind since I was twelve years old. And to be able to finally provide her with a home of her own, it feels wonderful!
So I agree, writing a novel is like raising your child. It will cost you and give you plenty of emotions but as long there are more good than bad, then it is worth it.
