Calm_Spirit Personally, though, I read it till current chapter count. It seems a bit long winded to me at the moment with slow pacing till action. However I am hoping it will change. I usually give till 100 chapters before i decide if I am going to stick with it or not. I really liked the Gamer and was disappointed when it seemed to suddenly stop. This is my attempt at replacement along side those VR world type novels like the Rebirth ones.

Wabbitz Try out novels on royalroad too and i will try it out when it reaches chapter 100.

To tell the truth I voted with my power stones for Shadow Hack because of the promise of the translator to increase the chapter per week from 10 to 14 (which he did). I guess that should be the main reason for all the votes.

But after 15 chapter of infodumping, I regret my decision.
I will read until chapter 60 and if the novel doesn't get better, I will drop it.

Calm_Spirit same reason why library of heaven path was #1 and probably #2 now.

Don't really trust those power ranking, just go to novelupdates and see the reviews over there. Some reviewers have even read far beyond which can review the novel more objectively than those who give 4-5 rank but only read 90 chapters.

I find it odd, it got by far the most votes out of like every novel, ever, and as soon as it's released it destroys the rankings, i mean number 2 and 3, both long established novels with a big reader pool, barely beat the score together.

I enjoyed what i've read of it, but it's nothing special so far.

PaaGuuChoki Actually, the popularity rankings and power rankings are more indicative what many (non-vocal) readers like. Reviews on NU are very skewed towards the vocal minority and very poor indication of what is liked.

There is no reason for Webnovel to fake the numbers since Shadow Hack's author is considered a nobody compared to the more established authors like IET and Mao Ni, whose newer books aren't high on the rankings. As a translator of one of those books, it is obviously in my interest for my translation to be ranked high. And if I'm not complaining, I don't see why there's a need for conspiracy theories.

CKtalon I don't think many people really care too much about the power ranking except for the people replying to this forum. To be honest.

DarkGem I guess so. Some TLS and eds might just want to earn money though. Unless you get some sort of raise when you're at power ranking #1 I don't see the need to be so competitive. But that could be just me though.

During the voting time..they thought it was good and have some similarities with monster paradise( which is good novel for me). During that time, other prospect novel was less interesting i gues. I even voted for it. But now, i hate how the release is too slow and filler chapters left and right which was not worth the votes of the public. I never put power stones for it though. I hope they put their power stones to other novel like AGM or swallowed star perhaps...

Tugster It's less of an active competition and more of a natural wish to know your work is being appreciated. Many people working here are possessive of the novels they work on, and they wish for them to do well.

People beg for votes in translator comments (and give incentives like more chapters). It's a new novel so more people read it, meaning more people see the author beg for stones so they vote for it.

Don't forget, there are a lot of new people who don't recognise the cliches, so they read it and think it's awesome since everything is a new idea in their mind.
