Over the last year just about all the novels on here have gone premium while the quality of the works on here, translations and originals, have declined.

It appears that a novel going Premium does not mean you can expect better grammar, spelling, editing, etc. because you are paying. No, seems it means you pay a higher rate for lower quality work.

Some of the novels I used to read actually dropped in quality after they went premium. And where one word could be used to state something three or more is now the norm. Why? Because translators and writers get paid based on word count. Quality of writing, translating, and editing is not a consideration.

I see comments to give translators and writers a break because they are not professionals; is that a justification for doing poor quality work? When i am reading for free, I do not mind sending error reports and helping proofread and edit. Why should I do the same when I am paying to read? Why should I do the work someone else got paid to do? Wouldn't that mean I am paying Qidian to let me proofread and edit novels for them?

Does Qidian care about the readers? Right now, this is a novelty for most English speaking readers. But don't outsmart yourselves by being too greedy. You have competitors who favor quality and affordability while considering their readers.

Don't make a joke of all the hard work a lot of people, that were not Qidian, did in order to grow interest to this level. That is the base your site, and many others, are
built on.

    shinjite You can always report it on the forum, and we will fix it. When we are churning out such large amounts of text, it's sometimes inevitable mistakes happen. Even published books have errors which are fixed with reprints.

        shinjite I would assume your assumption about word count is correct. Contracted authors have a certain number of words they must hit, so therefore some might be getting lazy. I also don't think as a paying customer you should have to send tons of error reports. I know as a writer, I spend 2 hours editing about 800 words to ensure it's presentable. So if the authors you're finding aren't taking time to edit, then I feel for you.

            CKtalon OP has a point. One or two errors is fine and I'd be happy to point it out in the comments, but if the chapter is peppered with errors, then I might as well take out a red pen and do the editor's work for them. And oftentimes, the translator/editor don't even pay attention or don't care.

            Take for example Warning! Tsundere President. By the third chapter, I and some other readers pointed out that it was wrong to keep referring to the female lead with just the surname (Lu Zhaoyang is referred to as Lu). Guess what? It's already at chapter 40 and it has only gotten worse coz now even the male lead is also referred to by his surname.

            And I haven't even started on the grammar yet.

            To be honest, reading on webnovel is not for quality writing. It's really just to follow plots. I guess qidian is just lucky a lot of people here are not native English speakers so they don't really see grammatical errors or are much more forgiving of them.

                [unknown] It could be correct depending on context, but not when you use it all the time to say things like "Lu thought such and such" or "Huo did this and that." When the raws use the full name in those very same sentences, it's probably wise to just follow it.
