I’m curious!
For those of you out there who have gained a good amount of popularity - at what point did it start?

Is there a magic formula of word count + time?

Has anyone noticed how this works out... or is it purely just random which works jump ahead from the rest?

A total newbie so just wondering what I’ve got to do... or if I just have to keep putting work out and wait for it all to fall into place.

Share your experiences! :)

    I don´t write... yet :)

But i think you must set a release shedule and hold up to that that alone gives the readers a nice reading experience. Than a not to little word count and a good story :)

And if you start to release have a good amount of chapters ready so that you can release continuously.

What helps is that the idea of the book is original. Something different and new is refreshing to read. Some things I find kind of repetitive are stories that goes like this (No shame or call-out for authors who write with this kind of plot just my own opinion):

Transmigration >Cultivation world or something >Usually a powerless MC who is super dense with girls >Has a harem without knowing >Ultimate cheat something helps beat all the bad guys >Not sure how it's supposed to end

This is only from my opinion but I'm just a bit tired of these novels y'know? Having a steady release schedule and good word length chapters help too, about 1,500 - 2,000 words per chapter. Not sure if this'll help though since everyone id different.

    Hopes this helps!

I'mma go against the flow here and just share some insights i've learned over time as a fellow amateur writer.

      Write what you love
      and love what you write.

Write for yourself, don't write for others.

Dedicate more time into researching than you do writing, know the subjects you incorporate into your novels.

Reach out to people with knowledge and experience with the subjects incorporated into your novel.

Find someone fluent in the english language to edit your novel and bring it to the next level. (or whatever language you are writing in).

The best places for writing are often times the places where you're left with only your thoughts. (A cabin out in the woods, a quiet park without many pedestrians, a hammock out in the backyard. Regardless, it is a place with your mind as the only distraction, and its often times there that you'll get some great ideas for your novel). It's also for this reason that you should carry a small notepad and pen with you for sudden bouts of inspiration.

If you keep these things in mind as you write, you'll realize there is no magical formula for success. All there is, is passion. Don't worry about originality, there's no such thing in this day and age.

50% of your inspiration and dedication
        20% time
        10% grammar
        10% word count
        10% relevant content
idk for sure if the measurements are fit for everybody, but it worked for me.

          • Research what people like to read. The easiest source is: looking at the top 50-100 novels (both translation and original).
          • Identify why people enjoy what they read (i.e. the elements that make those novels enjoyable to readers)
          • Choose the elements you are most comfortable writing. For example, if you hate systems, don't force yourself to write about one. You'll soon be sick of it.
          • Mix and match the chosen elements into something resembling a decent premise.
          • Write.
