there are days that i want to read light novels and sometimes i want webnovels (CN/KR/JP) and i'm starting to like this app but I'm having trouble searching for them coz i dont know the tags and search terms (novel type, country of origin) needed here. Is there a search filter or am i just that dumb?

I only use PC version so it's pretty simple to navigate the tags and genres. If you don't use PC and are on mobile disregard this post but, if you do use PC this could help you.
On Pc just go to browse, not search, unless there's a specific novel you want (if you know the exact name search is the way to go) and the first thing below the browse button are the genres. There's 13 total.
Below that are the sub dividers such as if it's an original made by another user on webnovel, or a translation meaning it's a contracted novel with a professional author and it's been translated to English. There's the status section which seem pretty self explanatory. Last in the sub dividers are how you want the filter to filter it based on ratings, popularity, new novels and the number of chapters (The higher a novel is the more chapters it has).
There's not really any specific genres for Chinese, Korean, or Japanese novels. There are tags an author can add to their book near the bottom of their synopsis. The tags are more detailed than the broader Genres and have things like, "Female protagonist", "Reincarnation", "Game system", "Revenge", "Face smacking", etc. The list is endless (maybe it ends at some point but you know what I mean, maybe). If you click on those tags it'll bring you to a page with books that have a similar tag.
Say for instance you read a novel that has a tag "Brotherhood", and you like to read about the bonds between brethren and how they formed. Click on the tag and it'll just have the tag name in big bold letters while you can still filter through the ratings, chapter numbers, popularity and whether it's a new novel or not. You can only search by one tag at a time.
To explain the sub divider "Sort by", ratings are how many stars out of five the book is. Take into account the number of reviews that the book is based on, sometimes these can be misleading due to trolls and popularity is based on the amount of Power Stones that book has for the week.

For instance Chrysalis as of March 24 2020 is 32 overall and 9 in original when It comes to the ranking for works on webnovel yet when looking for works under system tag it's listed as number 81 in popularity for system webnovels.
Kitmini You can directly put the name of the Tag in the search bar, without any # before it, and if the Tag exists in their database, the top results will show you books with the tag, and an option to browse more books that have those tags. Example: Browse Smut and it will give you books that have Smut as a tag first, and then everything else below those two top rows. You can only search one tag at a time.
