As I wait and wait and wait for the next chapter. I decided to read thru the previous chapters again. and guess what, I think I have connected the dots. The dots are…
1. There are in total 22 "Pathways" to divine according to Blasphemy Slate, but there are ONLY 7 orthodox Gods exist in Klein’s Universe, which are Evernight, Eternal Blazing Sun, Storm, Knowledge, Mother Earth, Combat, Craftsmanship(now Machinery) (Chp.18).
2. Some paths are interchangeable at mid-high sequences, like Sleepless and Corpse Collector, Savant and Mystic Pryer(Chp.144)
3. All the 7 orthodox Gods were stemmed from The God (the omnipotent/ omniscient one)(Chp.18).
4. The full title for Evernight: Lady of Crimson, Mistress of Calm and Silence, Empress of Disaster and Horror, Mother of Secret. (Chp.18)
5. Church of Evernight were at war with Antigonus Family, which possessed the Pathway for Seer. The Church is still showing heavy interested in Antigonus Family’s artifacts (Chp.35). It is possible from previous raids, the Church possesses the knowledge for the Seer Pathway, but choose not to reveal it, even among the rank of Nighthawks (Chp.143).
6. The higher-ups of the Church of Evernight indeed understand the benefits of ‘acting method’, but never promoting it (Chp.147).
7. All the orthodox Churches were once hidden cult at some point in history(Chp.94).
My theory is that each orthodox Gods ‘controls’ 2 or more of the Pathways, to be more precise, 2 or more Pathways are stemmed from each God, just like the orthodox Gods were originated from the Creator. Hence some of pathways are interchangeable as they eventually point towards the same God.
This poses a serious problem if ‘acting method’ is promoted among the lower ranks since faster level up speed = more ingredients are needed, eventually it will become so hard to find magical creatures for ingredients, and people start to hunt high-sequencer, and possibly the Goddess herself, in order to advance.
The Pathway of Evernight(sleepless), Death(Corpse Collector), Secret(Seeker) are closely related, as revealed in the title of the Goddess (Calm and Silence as the Night domain, Disaster and Horror as the Death domain, Secret as… well… Secret domain), it is understandable the Goddess want to place road block to lower the possibility of creating a usurper in-house xD.
And oh, our beloved Goddess of Evernight prolly had a fight with the God of Death, and God of Secret and won it and became orthodox God when the Church is still a cult or sth.
