In term of translating comic, my opinion:
WN is more into translating novel as the raw material novel is come from their parent and subsidiary company.
The comics that you saw in WN is from the original sources i.e Tencent and other publisher in China/Korea/Japanese. They seek approval from them before translating. So, Tapas, Webtoon, Webcomic, even Webnovel etc are also seek approval to translate that comic from the original sources. Its marketing strategy come from original sources publisher, they approve as many as they want for attracting International reader. So, ofc any publisher will compete each other.
If you notice some of studio/publisher in WN for comic, saw they also published in other apps.
- Most reader priority is mass release chapters,
- friendly apps which they can read without getting any issue, and
- if that comic become premium, for free reader, they tend to unlock chapter with free coin/etc without buying. If that apps offer more benefit rewards to them for free, ofc they doesn't care the price of the chapter, fair rewards with fair price chapter.
yes, many reader want to get their entertainment in 1 place, but ofc they will choose the apps that give more benefit (in legal publisher apps not piracy). Some of them also don't like to mix comic and novel in 1 place.
