ThyUnknownSaint I'm late to the party, but basically, Chinese authors are ranked depending on popularity and earnings (mostly earnings from what I recall).
-Ordinary Writer (or poor guy writer for the mean-spirited): low fanbase and about 1K yuan per year in earnings ($146).
-Little God: A fanbase of more than 100K, and earnings of 100K yuan per year (14k-15K usd).
-Great God: Millions of fan and earnings of more than 1M yuan per year (about $146K).
-Platinum or Supreme God: In the world of Chinese authors, the kings and queens. They are the top earning authors in the industry, with most of them making more than $100k usd per month. Yes, I said per month...
Needless to say, their fans are legions.
As for here...among our top earning original authors, we could, MAYBE, find one or two that qualify for Great God status. I don't see anyone here reaching the Platinum level unless A) webnovel's readership skyrockets, or B) A novel gets adapted to TV.
