How come author have the right to delete review by made reader?

Supposedly it is to help prevent spam reviews, but some authors are abusing it to keep a high rating.
That's insane.. what's the point of having a notation system if it's rigged :s

It's Moloxiv which wrote "Number one dungeon supplier".
I made a comment explaining that i disliked the AI in his novel because they were taking more place in the story that any other "flesh" character while only being second to third string character.
There was an answer to my post by the user "shelwyn":
It's because the author gave up on his original main character and started putting in fully developed characters from very popular animes.
People like samurai x or whatever and he put in Megumin and a bunch of other anime characters.
The real author of those original works fleshed them out and gave life to them. Then this guy just ploped them into his own story and changed their names lmao.
This story is more of an anime fanfiction crossover and the only original part of the story is his self insert main character, the world setting is the usual high tech cultivation you've probably seen done a few times.

SinB No, all Webnovel needs to do is to limit one review per novel per account. That would prevent majority of the spam. Why would anyone need to write 100 damn reviews anyways? Why would anyone need to write 2 different reviews at all? If you want to change it just delete the old one and write a new one. They could also add an edit option, bu editing an existing review shouldn't be able to erase everything already written, only add to it so as to prevent confusion. A positive review with 100 likes turning into a negative review would be confusing if the earlier review is allowed to be erased. New and old should be seen together to understand the change in mind the person writing the review had. See, this is pretty much the solution to most of the problem. Ofc, there will be dedicated spammers with dozens of accounts, but really, how many of them would there be? How many people would waste their time to be a professional spammer? You probably need to write your own program to keep dozens of accounts and spam with them, as doing manually would be too tedious. Oh, while you are at it, make it harder for people to create dozens of accounts! There are very simple ways of doing this. You can't ever prevent a dedicated enough person from performing malicious acts, but you can damn sure make it hard enough that only some OCD individuals even bother to do so. That's the logical solution Webnovel won't take for some reason. Laziness? Incompetence? It is anyone's guess...

All webnovel needs is to hire moderators for forum and novels, but they don't want to pay anyone so they give powers to authors ot do to do their unpleasant tasks for free and also to take the blame for that.
It is not a work for a writer, I agree about that, but there are also a lot of trolls, spammers, haters and so on, so... Better that, than doing nothing.
scarlett1414 When the spammer post aren't deleted because they give 5 stars, that's a problem of honesty and objectivity on the part of the author, nothing else.
That's the problem here and no, i don't think that going back to how it was before, when they didn't have this power or didn't used it would be worse.

Now with how things are, we may as well delete the rating of the various novel, it would be far more efficient.
as long as one give review about 4-5 stars then even if it's only all emotes or any kind of troll msg, it definitely won't be delete. sigh
I definitely understand your points and I agree with the fact that many authors abuse this power. But, you need to look at the bigger picture. Bad reviews with construvtive feedbacks are perfectly fine. But bad reviews that lack constructive feedbacks, don't bode well for all authors especially the contracted authors. We should be able to remove these types of reviews, although there are many contracted authors that have novels that scream bloody murder. One particular aspect is when webnovel are trying to make the readers to leave reviews for books in order to recieve SS and EXP. Left for the readers, they would have slaughtered those books with extreme negative reviews. That's why webnovel left that backstop to guarantee authors the ability to remove bad reviews.
Webnovel won't remove that priviledge especially when it will affect the contracted authors.
Rarylith The problem of spam 5 stars review crosses with the problem that many books have few reviews and because readers like to see many reviews, many authors let them stay (the ones in good faith).
Then, there is the problem that 80% of reviewers don't comply with the five points of review, but they give the vote that they want and stop.
So, it is better now from my point of view, from yours no. To each its own.

scarlett1414 What would be good is to be able to vote without having to make a review. That would clean up a bit.
Then there's the gain of reading point for posting review.. that should be deleted.
