The longer I am on this site, the more and more I keep seeing stories with excellent writing get almost no attention despite steady output and consistent quality, while other stories that are borderline unreadable because of grammar and storytelling issues get hundreds of thousands of views a month, hundreds of PowerStones, and dozens of reviews and chapter comments. It's almost as if writing worse gets you more positive attention.

I guess this leads me to my second question of "how the hell do I get anyone to pay attention to my stories on here without writing like a spastic twelve year old on a sugar high?"

Because I'm honestly at a complete loss at this point. I don't think what I'm putting on here is great, but I feel like I'm pretty much shouting into the void every time I post since no one ever interacts with anything.

    Clowniac After you have more than 10 reviews on a novel, you get a score and instantly your novel becomes more visible.
    Tags could help in letting others finding your novel.

      The reviews do help out but it's often hard to get them in the first place.
      If you can stand it, I suggest doing review swaps when you can and coming back to the forums to promote your book when possible.

        Instant gratification is more important to the primary demographic of readers on this site.

        Honestly, the main foot traffic of people who come here aren't looking for something particularly deep, thought out, or even well-written somethings. It's not a diss, it's just that there's a large number of viewers who are looking to scratch a particular itch and these sort of novels scratch it. Nothing wrong with that, sometimes you just want to turn your brain off. They're not always to my taste (it actually gives me a headache but hey to each their own) but I understand given the site and their specialty.

        You come to WN because you like this formula of Asian WN and you want more, whatever your pick of flavor is.

        In terms of visibility- I feel like the site focuses on people with steady updates. (I am not one of them) If you wanted to focus more on that you could but it's really unpredictable bc that's just how a market works. Especially when the medium is the vast sea of the internet.

        It's hard but you should just keep doing you and writing for those who are reading your work rn, bc they found you regardless. Others will come in due time as you create your quality content.

          It all comes promotions ig and being just a reader, i can only tell u to shamelessy promote ur work on novel based sites n all(especially on discord or on forums) . But don't be too irritating with ur advertising. And if ur novel is really good then ppl will automatically share ur novel to others as well.
