Tomoyuki Wouldn't that be just a big spoiler?
BTW in my review i just told people that might not believe me to just check some chapter comments And/Or even better to actually read the thing.

No need to have the review deleted.

xcares Um, I think you'll find the purpose of the review is to help people decide whether they should read the story or not, not tell them to read the story and decide for themselves. And if you're worried about spoiler, use spoiler tag. Otherwise the review isn't going to help much. You need to elaborate why you think the story is good/bad or warn people what's in it or tell people why it's worth reading, not just leave a single vague sentence and tell people to find out for themselves.

What you consider "stupid" or "moronic" isn't necessarily what others consider stupid. Elaborate why you think the main character is stupid (use spoiler tags if necessary) and leave it to the readers whether they agree or disagree with your definition of stupid (and I don't mean them reading the actual story).

It's like an Amazon review, people go onto Amazon to check if the quality of the product they are considering to buy is worth the purchase or not. Just saying the product is poor without explaining why isn't helpful. People want to know why they shouldn't spend their money on the product, or in this case, why they shouldn't invest their time in reading. And vague reviews that don't actually give details or explain the statements/claims they make aren't something you can take seriously, because as I said, sometimes the insults and "criticisms" are childish rather than justified. You need to justify why you think it's bad/stupid, otherwise it comes away as little more than whining, and you might as well complain about it in the chapter comments than write a review, that quite frankly, doesn't serve the purpose of a review.

It is so awful that we cannot have a civilised conversation. If there is anything that annoys me the most, then that's - bad choice of words.

You make dozens of criticism regarding my book. You disagree with my every point. You find my perspective ridiculous. Everything is fine with me but the moment you go personal, do the name calling which I find sick and use adjectives that are completely uncalled for - you would lose me there.

I mean what, people? Who are we? Kindergarten kids to forget how a conversation and discussion is done? It is disappointing to see that people are forgetting the very basic thing, the basic human respect towards each other.

I am sorry. I have got no intention to offend anyone but please, learn to have a respectful conversation and also, learn to agree to disagree peacefully!

OJROMANCE None of the reviews are "negative" - there certainly are criticisms, but they mostly sound positive.

      (1) The background is good And it's not pretty bad after reading 1-20 chapters. (3.5 stars)

      (2) But the idea of the story is good and I hope is will be better in the future chapters! (3.5 stars)

      (3) surely if u r looking for a fun read i think its a good one. The author did a good jod with character development except for the FL, the writing style is straight forward n the story has a good flow to it. And to conclude i really appreciate the FL best friend she is a sensible character. And every story has its charm n according to me the charm in this story r the background characters. (4.5 stars)

      (4) This is one of my favorite written story.I love historical romance and the choice of characters are great! (4.5 stars)

Not even going to mention the troll review, which neither criticizes nor compliments, but gives you a 3 star (I wonder if you'll delete it if it was a 1 star review).

Either you have no idea what a "negative" review is, or you're just shooting yourself in the foot. I honestly don't know what Gem4Life wrote, so I'm going to be neutral here and reserve judgement until I actually see her review for myself, but honestly, you're not going to convince anyone. How are 4.5 star reviews even remotely considered "negative"?

Furthermore, you literally wrote at Chapter 10 "Warning: Detailed mature scene" and you had quite the explicit foreplay (and no matter how I read it, it seemed forced onto poor Nana, who didn't give consent, so it's pretty much sexual assault), so it's pretty dishonest of you to attack Gem4Life and accuse her of being a liar while not admitting that you did have the Emperor sexually assault Nana (and no, just because there was no penetration with his...uh...d, doesn't mean it's not sexual assault - and he used his fingers - sorry, everyone, if I gave too much info). Even if you claim that it's not sexual assault, it's still a pretty explicit scene that involves fingering and undressing, but why did you not clarify that? I don't think you're in any position to accuse people of lying.

You need to be less biased and not pretend that high-rating reviews that positively compliment you are "negative" reviews. An example of a negative review is (2) but without the "But the idea of the story is good" and a complete lack of encouragement. Hell, the reviewer even gave you 3.5 stars, which is a decent score - a negative review would be 1 or 2 stars. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have not seen a single 1 or 2 star review in your story at all. There is nothing lower than 3 stars and that belongs to that troll review that didn't even make a single negative remark, so I'm not sure if that can even count as "negative."

Uhh... The fact that authors can delete reviews in the first place seems... Worrisome? Shouldn't they only be able to flag them and ask the platform to delete them?

Thvar Lack of moderators and not enough manpower on the site to sift through so many flags, I presume.

            Tomoyuki Gem4Life
Interesting. And presumably this adjusts ratings accordingly? I.e. deleted reviews don't count against you? Which means that ratings should essentially be entirely disregarded?

That's annoying, but does explain some of the novels I've seen on here.

Yes, you can artificially inflate your rating by deleting all the bad reviews. They no longer count, which is why the rating system doesn't mean anything here.

Thvar That is correct. If a review is deleted, the rating is also removed.

I got four chapters in and I wanted to go see my gynecologist. Mostly because the author had clearly never had a pap-smear nor a well-woman exam, and has no clue how uncomfortble they actually are. SMH. I really needed to feel the awkwardness of my husband to be, the murderer of my family, the girl(?) I had a crush on when I was younger and haven't seen in who knows how long, the murder of my family's right hand man, and whoever the hotdog else was there (names were being dropped like crazy), in the room waiting for the results of my hymen examination. wowee. get me off this wild ride.

It was a really interesting place to start the story, but the first 3 chapters were so hard to follow, and then the hymooonnnnn examinatttiiooonn was resolved in one sentence. Wow I guess it wasn't a big deal then. I hope the doctor poked it with his finger, ruining the whole needlessly confusing plot.

              Cringe.

The FL was just kinda in love with him because he was hot? Thats it? She was an outcast because her father betrayed the emperor? She was saved because she was usefull and not useful? Why didn't the emperor just add him to his harem? Why would you allow your son to marry the daughter of a traitor, the daughter of the man you murdered? Ah, because the author says so. Its just like that! Us stupid simple minded readers would never understand the complications of a young woman who's essentially being sold into slavery and forced to marry a complete stranger. But it's ok because the guys a prince! Beautiful people can't be mean or abusive! It's not possible! Only ugly people and poor people can be bad! Stupid readers... too dumb to understand that every bad thing a character does can just be ignored because of their status and a six pack!!1!
Why think about yourself, about your flaws as a man when you can just look in a mirror marvel at your beeutifteee!
Why be worried about the future when you were just kinda hand waved into the royal family, even though you were a traitor and have literally no one? You're pretty, the girl(?) you're in love with is pretty, and your husband is just... a god amoung men!

I'm going to puke. This is some nasty tea.

Lilliny To be fair, if your father betrayed the Emperor, I'm pretty sure you'll be branded as an outcast because of your familial association with him. That happens a lot in reality.

A lot of your points are valid, though. I'm not sure why the Emperor ever thought it would be a good idea to marry his son off to the daughter of a traitor (wait, I'm confused, I thought the Emperor was the one who married Nana, did I misread something?). Normally the politically correct and logical route to take is to kill her, to tie up loose ends and to ensure she doesn't plot revenge and all that stuff real Emperors are worried about.

And yeah, the male lead's behavior disturbs me. A lot. "Oh, I don't want to hurt you but I end up hurting you anyway. It's okay, though, because I never intended to hurt you, so all is forgiven!"

                  Lilliny

Wait, excuse me? The story STARTS with a "hymen examination"?

Off to an auspicious start, it seems.

Tomoyuki Well the reviews that had a proper list of positives and negatives right along with explanations about my grading, have been deleted.
Some of them automatically by wn itself and the rest by the authors.
Cause they don't care to have a negative review on their front page and neither does wn.

What both writers and WN need are average positive review scores above 4.
There are atrocious novels that have 4.8 and 4.9 rating just cause all the negative reviews are deleted and the fake positives keep piling up.

That's my understanding formed by seeing almost all the negative reviews deleted.

                    Why bother spend the time?
It's more fun to see people actually asking around about the reasons things work this way in WN XD

this is the best tea that I've read all week, please continue.

Clowniac you know, honestly, I think being an asshole when the other person you're dealing with is an asshole is a perfectly acceptable scenario. eye for an eye is always great drama. ;)

                        Clowniac

I haven't really found anything wrong with what you say either. I find it rather amusing.

xcares Ah, damn it. I can understand your frustration then. It must be really painful when you spent all that time to type out a well thought out review, listing what you both like and dislike about the story, only for the writer to callously delete it. It feels like a complete waste of your time. I hear you on that one.
