gift function would generate some extra revenue...
What the Author/translator gets from gift function is really, really low. Hardly think it's worth the effort unless every single person gifts for each chapter read.
For an original, the Author (I presume) would find gifting to be a huge motivational factor rather than a monetary incentive factor.
We get money from gifts? I don't think any gifts I've earned has given me real money into my bank account. But it's the reader love and thought that counts.
It's the whales who give big gift if they really like the novel. The average paying reader most likely won't give gift or give little.
On Qidian in China, it is not uncommon for a popular author to get gift of several hundreds dollars from a rich millionaire.
