I utilize google docs to quickly edit and can work either in suggestive mode or direct. You are more than welcome to see the work I have done prior. MotivatedSloth I got a quote from one of the translation studios once for editing work, and they only offer 2-3x as much. So that rate for amateur simple editing, seems reasonable for this community. (Not that I'm saying that this is a fair wage)

KoraL From what I heard, standard rate for non-native english editor is 10$/1000 words, thats what I based my calculation on.

MotivatedSloth $10 is a very reasonable amount for a professional.
From my editor friends, they quote a rate of 1-2k words per hour depending on the difficulty of the writing level (e.g. academic journals would be 1k words or less per hour). Just perspective at what you're getting if they're willing to work for what a professional would view as $2 an hour.

KoraL So if your friends are getting $2/hour, then what do professionals get an hour? It depends on the writing level, but if I’m understanding correctly, that’s $10/hour if averaging 1k words an hour?

If so, wow, that’s pretty low for a professional, comparing to US minimum wage in some states anyway. 🤔

Chryiss No, my friends are paid by piece by a consulting firm, so the effective rate varies, though it's generally at least $15 per hour and can be more than $40 per hour. The $2 rate was referring to OP's offer. The $10 is from motivated sloth referencing 3rd world country non-native English speaking person rates which is effectively $15 per hour.

Lilliny i can reference you to the books i edit on wn. As for the comment on my personal story i didnt drop the book i ran into writers block. That doesnt effect my editing.

                  LadyAdhara didn't. doesn't.
That you're offering editing services, but miss out the ' in didn't and doesn't is somehow alarming.

KoraL Ah that makes more sense! So the rate per 1k words is much higher then the OP’s rate or $10/1k if they usually do 1-2k words an hour. Okay, that’s more livable lol. I read your post as $2/hr due to 1k words edited per hour, and that concerned me about the livelihood of editors. I think of that job as needing a relatively high amount of education to do it properly, so I was surprised at the rate that initially seemed like a low-ball one.
