So apparently, once you've created a novel and are an "author", Webnovel won't allow you to delete your acount anymore. They wouldn't even do it even when I already emailed them about it.

THIS IS BULLSHIT. A user has the right to delete their account and their "novels" (w/c webnovel says you "own", but actually don't since you can't delete it once you create it) on a platform if they want to.

This is a policy issue, NOT a technical issue. Being a veteran programmer myself, I know for a fact that CRUD functionality is a very very BASIC operation, and deleting an account and its associated "novels" can in fact be done programmatically or via database admin operation.

Again, this whole thing is BULLSHIT.

joelsalamangka I will agree on this. Not allowing authors to delete their novels and account is a garbage move. And even when it comes to ordinary users, there are too many garbage restrictions [edit: on deleting their account].

@yaoyueyi No bugs were reported since Webnovel has intentionally kept the said feature disabled.

joelsalamangka It's a copy right issue, I think. When you created a novel in their site, they probably automatically get half the copyright of your work (just take it with a grain of salt). To prevent the copyright from escaping their grasp, they don't allow you to delete your account nor the novels in it. As for manually deleting chapters, they probably have a copy in their database so they allow you to delete them. So basically, your account could most likely be a written contract to show proof that they own your work.

I might just be spouting nonsense or this might really be a fact. Who knows? Just take it with a grain of salt.

Azraeeeel What you just said is completely incorrect. Below are Webnovel's Terms of Services related to User Content (reviews, comments, posts, books, chapters, and everything else posted on Webnovel by the Users) available at https://www.webnovel.com/terms_of_service which I would recommend everyone to read.
