I’m getting a huge number of comments on my novel even though I have only 3 chapters and it’s very suspicious comments, could it be possible that there are so much bots on wn?
Bots
Not from WN. There's a lot scrapper and spambots that sometimes tries to attack the site. It's the same types that also attack other story sharing sites. There's also WN users who may violate terms of service with their bots, but that's usually for WPC.
odyssey101 Wait me too. I was checking out some other stories, and the overall comments followed the same general template? And all of the comments were left by level 5 users who somehow didn't have activity until 5/6 days ago.
Jenjibread yeah they are the same ! Usually leave positive messages and stuff, It’s annoyung because amongst them was maybe a really nice comment that I missed
Veronica8 ngl that’s extremely annoying; is there any way to report them?

odyssey101 Yeah but the problem is that if someone reports a bot, then multiple others will do too, causing WN to have reports spammed with Bots comments than "non-bots comment".
It's still very concerning tho and it's getting out of hand, WN went from having to deal with scrape bots and view bots in the forums to now the bots commenting on some novels, and yes it might not be a problem for famous novels, it is a problem for small novels that don't get too much attention and the huge problem is that bots get more smarter not to just gather information and scrape novels for piracy but it is also easy to trick new authors like that, To be fair I didn't notice it in the last 2-3 days I was getting it until today and that's really absurd let me tell you.
Now while I'm not a new author, I wrote my first novel back in 2019, where I didn't face this bot problem (it was only the views that were suspicious in 2019 but it didn't bother me at all for some reason and i think i don't have any excuse for this really as my novels are actually free to read) which it would lead me to disadvantages and literally had no idea about bots until I came back in 2020 to write a second novel, I was taking it easy and I was taking stuff too seriously with the bots until today, I reversed everything to where it was supposed to be and left it on to check the forums to see if anyone's aware and it seems like you are, so I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one aware of this issue.
So far I wish I would solve this problem, while i could complain at WN for this problem, I don't think it would be solved as if even WN dealt with these bot comments, more and more would be coming, and the bots will also get more and more smarter to even disguise themselves as Legitimate user easily (maybe) but what I really want from the company is to at least warn users about this so they don't fall for it again like me! (while yes it's not a big issue, I would still avoid responding to bots no matter the circumstances)

You could take screen shots and send an email to service@webnovel.com with a request for them to investigate. Be specific on time periods to see if there's been a pattern of spambot incidents around that time.
I think that's the only thing that could be done for this occasion.
Veronica8 yeah i always publish one chapter at 7 pm gmt+2 and that’s the most suspicious thing, I get 3 to 4 comments right away and then nothing, I’ll try to report them that way and see how it goes. Thanks!
GorujoKun we r in the same situation, I also wrote my first novels last year and I didn’t even know there were views bots but these comments bots are too obvious

≡(▔﹏▔)≡This bot-thing is giving me the creeps. After finding this post and reading this conversation from the beginning, I went to the comments section for my book and clicked on the profiles for every single user who had commented, and {... (╬▔皿▔)╯"Horrors!"}...every single person who commented was of either level six or level five and they only had one badge(which was the cultivator badge for being registered for over one year). The way each one of them commented was also highly similar or just exactly the same(
comments like "Update leh", "Hehehhe I'm back for more", "Getting better us it goessss, keep up the good work" etc.) It's just frightening since all of them who commented were like clones of each other which got me thinking if all~~
my readers were bots.
So, here's a silly question: Is it possible for all your viewers to be bots?
Fish_Subduing_Sky after I’ve seen their pattern bots don’t like comments so if someone liked one of your comments he’s not a bot, that’s all I know for now
odyssey101 Sigh, I got plenty of bots for my new book. I asked for confirmation with an editor for it...nothing changed. I will prolly send a mail to service@webnovel.com and see how it goes. Sigh, it puts a damper to my mood

Ohh I'm so glad that I'm not the only one! This is really getting out of hand, I wish there was a way to stop this.
I started getting these comments too, at first I thought nothing of it but then I realised they were way too weird and suspicious, especially their names had an abundance of numbers and like others mentioned lvl 5 or 6 with only one badge.
It makes me despair tbh and I just want zo get rid of them. Hopefully therell be a solution to it soon or it might be just wishful thinking
Btw question: can the bots add to collection bc ive been getting a concerning amount of collections recently and i wonder if it might not be from the bots
MatchaMilk tbh I don’t know either about collections but I doubt 36 people think my book is good enough when I’m still building the world soooo they probably can ?
Alright I'll send them an email, let's see how it goes
MatchaMilk apparently, it's possible i think. Someone said to me that, he already deleted his novel from this site for a while, but he still got the collection notification. Even today.
So, right now we are facing against, the view counts bot, collection bot and the comment section bot.
The most ironic thing is that... This comments bot only start becoming active like... A week ago. But, their accounts already exists for a year.
Most of them are level 5 or 6
They only have who am i badge(in my case)
They should at least has endeavor or cultivator badge.
Their names are a mix of number and words. Most bots are like this.
Carciphones_02 They are desperate for content so they are asking the authors to write more XD.
Regnov you see... The thing that make everything much worst is that... The only thing that you can trust that you have readers is the power stones and the vote.
But... What makes everything so messed up is... You can't vote on unpopular novel. So, all these new author is pitful.(including me.)
Then .. sometime.. without notice, you will find out that your novel one day can't receive power stones. And that is the most important thing for new authors.
All because of some rules about you can't use some character or words or maybe emoji in your story. There is no notice, even if you fix it.. it's not like they wilk fix it so, you have to search for help yourself. There is no notice to inform the author about any rules breaking regulations so, we have to solve the puzzle and search for the problem ourself.
Carciphones_02 acc you cant rely on power stones either because most of the votes Ive received are definitely from bots too haha feels bad
