That isn't always the case, at least for me. I've been patiently released 1-3 chapters each week on this past 4 months and now i won't say that it's popular, but I'm quite satisfied with amount of views, bookmarks, and comments per chapter.
As I'm myself didn't even know any better platform to write other than webnovel. All I can say is, If you are writing for passion, then write for yourself first before you write for another. That way you won't be discouraged and disappointed with the little amount of supports. In some case, there's a writer who needs hundreds of chapters, and a lot patience before he/she can get satisfaction/supports from writing.
in my case before I don't have my supportive readers, I write for myself, for my passion and self satisfaction. Thanks god I didn't stop along the way during those discouraging times, had i stop on writing I wouldn't get offered the contract.
So don't give up...
