I'm looking into signing a contract with Webnovel for one of my novels, and I am thinking of taking the non-exclusive option (as I want to still retain my rights to my story and not give it all away forever). There is a certain condition with the non-exclusive option that I wanted some opinion on, so just wondering if anyone has received the non-exclusive contract and would be able to share their thoughts about this condition.

Not sure if I can say what that condition is here, but I can share in private message. Thanks!

I have a non-exclusive contract on the table, per request, so it is possible, just need to ask for it.

Yup, also received the contract, havent properly read it, so I cant say which condition you are talking about, altho I can kinda guess.

This topic was discussed on the authors discord, altho many of them weren't that sure either since theyre mostly webnovel contracted.

MatchaMilk The condition I'm referring to, which I only found after asking EMP more closely, is that EMP will publish the novel from the beginning and the current version of the novel will be dropped. So basically meaning that any collections or reviews for the current version of the novel will be lost.

My question is how a person who has signed the EMP contract felt about this, and if the numbers growth was better with (and starting the novel from beginning again) or without the contract (and continuing the novel at its current place).

TosataFujinami ah I see, i think ive heard some ppl say theyve sjgned it but im not really sure.

Sorry, cant help you much then but if your current views are ok and not that high, you could consider it and ask ur readers to move to the new one- altho, dont take my words too serious

EMP said that they'll give u at least 40k unique views, so make of it what you want

WinterQween Yeah, EMP is for a non-exclusive contract. Basically, so you can keep the rights to your novel/story even after a contract is terminated or if you want to make use of the novel/story for other purposes or publishing channels.

I was just offered a non exclusive contract for my story that I am working on. I am waiting to hear back on the full details of what that will mean and what the clarifications are. If anyone has any information about what the non exclusive contract will look like I would greatly appreciate the input! Thanks so much!

I got a mail from EMP team yesterday and filled the agreement. Now what?

Joskylar I wrote 15k words and received mine yesterday. But it has some clauses about me loosing my moral rights to work. And I need them to clarify on because it sounds like a slave contract and I’m very confused tbh šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Ask the contracted authors on discord about it.
There are threads already on here too, about contracts and they give a lot of general information. So do a some searching on the forum as well.

Phebe_Faulkner They also contacted me about my book on wattpad. They offered me an non-exclusive contract. I was so excited when I read it but kinda skeptical if its legit or not, I also want to know the insight of those people that did sign a contract with them

I was also contacted but I wasn't sure if it was real or not. After reading it over and over I accepted and I'm still waiting for them to contact me but can someone please give me an insight about this as well,

I was also contacted on Wattpad for one of my stories and not gonna lie, I was super excited at first but then started to think it was fake. I've been on this site doing some digging to see if it's worth it to reply, and see some people saying the contract is absolute slave work bullsh*t and not to sign, while others are saying you may as well sign it because you cant always have that perfect contract. I was offered a non-exclusive contract, and sent a friend request on discord to the person who contacted me just to see if i could maybe get some more information.
Long story short I just wanted to post here and see if anyone had any advice? Is it worth it to sign (with all the negative stigma around this cite) or should I just keep writing on Wattpad and not bother?

Which contract did you sign? If it was a royalty one, then can you tell me the procedure pretty please! I'd appreciate it.
You see I'm in the process of signing one. So I just want to confirm.

loserloserly It is worth signing the contract.
Either you decide to take Exclusive/Non-exclusive it's totally your choice.
But I can assure you that you'll earn if you update daily and your story has that spark.

Believe me, I was contacted through Wattpad too. Now I have both contracts for two books.

Inn0cent_S0ul it's very simple procedure ofcourse. Contact your CE with your book's link (that's been updated daily) and email ID.

Your CE will take time like one - two months for the vetting process. You must continue to update daily.
After the vetting process, they will send you the contract, you need to read it, fill up everything with your government issued ID and bank details and send your CE. After that it may take another one month to get Contracted.

Note: The time need for it to process may differ.

I also got contacted on wattpad for my books. But the thing is I'm very sceptical about it and also I haven't updated in a very long time. I'm stressed. Do I still get to keep the rights to my books?
