I have roamed this forum and I think I may be alone on this one. I never saw a post talking about this, but I don't think my idea is that far fetched. Because first, the rate of increase on web novel views are ludicrous even for newbie writers, compare it to wattpad for example, i think they are more truthful since it barely moves a number. Second this isn't baseless, I've tried experimenting on new novels. I refreshed it couple of times and it was solid 100 views, then when I clicked one chapter it jumped to 112. I refreshed again (several times) solid 112. Then clicked another chapter, bam its 119. Honestly I was very happy when I thought I had 10 readers, but turns out I was being lied upon, I'm slightly disappointed. All that views could be just me, scrolling stuff. I don't know if this is intentional or just a problem in their server that they can lost count. Right now I feel slightly sad, I'd rather be told the truth that no one reads my stuff than this stuff.
The web novel views are inaccurate, 1 real view may equal to 10+ views

HotRedFlaming There's a reason views isn't a metric sent to you in your daily report. It is entirely meaningless. Just look at your Collections, Power Stones, and user interaction to judge how your novel is doing.
HotRedFlaming maybe you are not alone who is refreshing the novel.
I would assume (from experience) that 1/30 views are organic readers. So if you have 10,000 views and 5 chapters, I would divide that 10,000 by 5 which would be 2,000 and then divide that by 30 which would mean the maximum potential readers amount for your novel in that case, would be around 66.
Also, as mentioned, there are other ways to figure out how your novel is doing like the metrics given in inkstone, but also if your novel is within 30 days on the platform, you can always download the webnovel application and see where your novel is on the popularity charts.
Some other tips for authors is to try to release at least one chapter daily consistently, and majority of readers who are considered "real fans" do not start giving a novel a try until around chapter 50+. Good luck and hope this helps! -The Sleeping Tadpole
Trust nothing but valid reads.
