Dwarkin And, yeah, Chinese or Korean insults against Japanese can't be a racism, because they belong to the same race.
Dwarkin do you know what a "race" is, and how many races exist? Did you study in highschool?
What exactly have you been learning in high school? That's the most nonsensical statement I've ever seen. And you call me brainwashed.
For your information, Zainichi Koreans (basically Koreans living in Japan) suffer from racial discrimination. Things might be getting a little better, but there is no doubt racism exists within Japan itself against racial minorities. Also, you have yet to offer your own definition of racism or race.
Additionally, you talk about stereotypes. Racial stereotyping in advertising is not always negative, but is considered harmful in that the repetition of a stereotype naturalizes it and makes it appear "normal". It is said that advertisers often utilize already existing deep-seated ideologies in society and base their commercials on them. Stereotypes have been used in advertisement as long as they have been around, and different ads over time have been thought by some to be more racist than others.
As for your example of American Hollywood. YES, the stereotyping of Russians as villains, of Arabs as terrorists - that is racism. You certainly have not been keeping up with the discourse if you haven't heard of the outcries (particularly of Middle Eastern immigrants suffering from racial discrimination and prejudice because of these medial stereotypical portrayals). I have no idea what you've been learning in school, but such media stereotypes are harmful. You can live in America your whole life, but because you happen to be Middle Eastern descent, you get discriminated against and abused by someone who saw an ad or movie where your race was depicted as villains. That is racism.
But go on, living in your closed bubble and pretend all these negative sterotypes aren't racist, and that everyone else is brainwashed by "social justice warrior" propaganda. I wonder who truly is the brainwashed person here.
