Zanyyy One month is fine. The reason I am worried is because it's been almost two months. And when I ask them they keep giving me dates when they know it won't be ready by then.

[unknown] I didn't even see this lol. Finally, congrats. What's the name of the book?

Sweetdreamer20 You can start locking chapters anytime you want on sharestory. But it took almost two months before my book was posted on webnovel.

Whatever you do on sharestory will be the same on webnovel.

You do not get instant pay.

What happens is that when you have signed the non-exclusive contract, your novels will have to be uploaded to the website that the companies use to sync with Webnovel and other platforms.

When you upload the novel on this website, then you have to decide whether or not the chapter should be free or paywalled. When you have decided on either free or paywalled, then you cannot change it in the future.

I personally have decided that all the novels I have released through the non-exclusive contract begins the paywall at chapter 51. Some of these novels have 2000 word chapters, others have 1000 word chapters, but even so, I have stuck to chapter 51 paywall.

The reason I personally prefer chapter 51 is due to the fact that your readers will have enough time to realize if they wish to continue reading the novel, or give up. Many more free chapters and you will lose money, but less, and people will not continue as they will not be too deeply immersed in the story. (this is purely my thoughts)

When it is uploaded, then you wait for it to be released on the platform, which can take up to a month or two, depending on the number of people who have signed contracts recently, and the platform's speed.
When the novel is uploaded, then people will be able to read.

You will be paid by the number of readers that unlock your chapters, and the cost for each chapter unlocked.

200 words = 1 coin, so 201-400 words = 2 coins and so on, the more coins used, the higher your income.

I am not sure what the revenue sharing of Webnovel and the non-exclusive contract owner is, so I cannot help you calculate exactly how much you will be paid for the coins in the non-exclusive contract.

And when do you get paid? Well if your novel were to be released in December, and it had premium (paywalled) chapters, then you would be paid in late January or early February for what you earned in December.

      I hope this helped

Thank you all very much for explaining. I just signed a nonexclusive contract and wasn't sure how it worked. Now I feel like I do. Some people are saying that ShareStory is not affiliated with WebNovel and that it is a scam, but you're saying it's just taking time to get it to post once you've uploaded to ShareStory and eventually, it is posting to WebNovel, correct? Thanks so much for our help!

Sharestory is the website where you have to upload your story when you have signed a non-exclusive contract.
It is a website that is being used by EMP Publishing, and AnD Publishing, which are the two companies that make the non-exclusive contract.
EMP and AnD are not Webnovel. They are different companies, however, they have an agreement/contract with Webnovel, which allows for the novels to be hosted on Webnovel in exchange for royalty share.
They are not only working with Webnovel but also other platforms.
It is not a scam. While it is up to the individual whether or not they are willing to sign the contract, they do honor their part of the agreement. It is a legally binding document after all, so just make sure to read and understand what you sign, then it should be fine.
I just want to point out, I have been paid in a timely manner from my non-exclusive contract, and they have always been extremely polite and helpful. I would not consider it a scam.
