Your own life is important, and if you feel you can't handle the workload, then take a break. Have an announcement chapter to explain the situation and that you'll be coming back in December. Also update your novel's front page (I don't know what you call it, but the website that has your synopsis, table of content and reviews) to indicate this.
Yes, you will have the risk of losing readers during your hiatus but those that like your novel will remain. They appreciate the heads-up and are generally understanding. What's more important is that you do return and update consistently.
Too many Authors say "I need a break" then never come back. Thus, when you DO come back, and the readers realise this, they readers will come back too. It will take time, but don't worry about it too much.
Use the break to write when you can so that you can stockpile, then have a steady update in December. These are my own personal feelings and thoughts as an Author. I've taken 1-2 weeks break before for the same reasons as you, then when I came back, I still gave my daily updates. Sometimes, even mass release.
You just do what is best for you.
