One book, which I think it's brilliant despite have few chapters, is Eye of the Storm by Miwaknight (https://m.webnovel.com/book/the-eye-of-the-storm-(a-fantasy-romance-novel)_17682602305296705).
The reason why I recommend this book is because I believe it would be helpful for your school project. The author is incredibly talented, her/his way with words unbelievable. In the very first paragraph she likens the city in which the story takes place as a "slumbering bruin after voraciously feasting it's prey"; this is kinda like saying the city is in a deathly quiet like a hibernating bear. Honestly, words can't even begin to explain how wonderful it is (except maybe saying it reminded me of the legendary Tolkien's and the engrossing King's works) so here's a bit from the story:
"Midnight heavily loomed upon the vast city of Eideris. The city was fast asleep, slumbering like a wild bruin after voraciously feasting on its prey. It seemed dead to the world, with its arteries so dark and whist, it almost paralleled to the chambers of the dead, only the corpses of the city had their hearts beating steadily and their blood warm beneath their skin." - Eye of the Storm, by Miwaknight
This excerpt not only contains the forementioned bruin line, but it also draws a parallel between a dead, dark, city to a body, the blood and it's heart. I could go on on about how good this hidden gem is, but I'll leave it to you to decide.
