I have been reading novels here for a long time, but the biggest thing that left an impression on me was how most translators and editors never bothered to read the comments about their translation and grammar mistakes.

This brought to 2 conclusions that either they were lazy or they don't read the comments all that much. So I was thinking that it would be very useful if you guys created a translation/grammer report option for the translators/ editors. There should also be a madatory comment box or a way to indicate the specific problem to the translator/editor and the probable solution.

It might be possible that they ignore it, so there should be a timer that the translator/editor who last touched the chapter would be warned/lose marks or something.

This warning/losing marks could also have consequences for things like constant reports on the same type of mistake like:

  • wrong gender notations,
  • inconsistent naming of important nouns ( character name, skill name, location, etc)

Only a few translators read comments and correct mistakes. It happened only two times with me - the first was (AFAIR) translator of the Trafford's trading club and the second was Dess

These are great ideas, but I don’t think they will be implemented. A rating system (like the one in place) is supposed to cover this. Stories with bad grammar will have low ratings based on that. You then would just have to avoid stories with a low grammar rating.

However, this app allows authors to self-rate and delete reviews. Therefore, every story can easily end up with a perfect 5-star rating if the author wants it. Based on that, I doubt they will bother adding an entire report system that penalizes popular stories with bad grammar.

That would be like giving a water filter to a community without running water. It’s a great idea, but they need the running water before the filter is that useful. If people here care about stories having good grammar, and the review system is fixed, then your ideas would be a good way to get rid of stories that don’t update their grammar. It also might not ever be needed.

shadowdrake27 That's unfortunate, bit wouldn't it work if it was based more on something like their personal ratings?
Like getting less popular books to translate if they have low ratings or something.

I am not sure what you are asking. Basing things off ratings would work if the ratings were accurate. Bad ratings can just be deleted by the translator or author. Fixing the rating system would have to happen before you could use it for anything.

You system would be nice since the rating system isn’t good, but it’s harder to make a new reporting system than to fix the old rating system.
