Maybe it's because people like it, not everyone has the same likes/dislikes as you.

I liked it, at least. Probably because it's one of the first animes that I watched, but, to be honest I still like it to this day. The reason is: a well-written harem.

And even in the novel it takes a long while before Issei has sexual relations. So the authors who write it for the smut are just horny people, let them be.

Its basically dragon ball z with a harem i think.

Superpowers, people fighting ever stronger foes, and ofcourse the USP that only dxd, pokemon and pokegirls have.

Essentially the main usp of dxd is the peerage system.

You get a chess set, to then recruit members with who fight along side you but according to the law are your property.

    Essentially theyre slaves.

So if you only recruit girls, you litterally own them. Which is appealing to the harem loving authors, it gives them a handy format for building a harem, and an easy to follow series of ever more difficult challenges to overcome.

Theres harem stories in say the potterverse too, but unlike in dxd the protagonist doesnt lotterally own them with a canon sentric plot devise.

So you get super powers and a harem that has no legal rights.

Thats about it I think. The dxd stories that dont use the peerage plot device rarely do well or do well because they're crossovers with something popular like naruto and sharingan.

    Thatsy analysis atleast.

Cool_Nega It literally had an anime girl for every strike zone. But in the anime not much progress was made. (I only watched the first season, mc was way too perverted) So the fanfics were created to fulfill those desires. That and there is two ways to get your story popular, one it being well written(good luck with this one) or two it having lots of girls/ecchi/sex scenes.
