It is not like I am complete whimsical person but recently qidian is delivering us enormous amount of crap gaming and system novels. Are there no other good cultivation novels like Legend of Great saint or martial arts novels like Romance of dragons and snakes here in chinese qidian? Please rethink your way of thinking because for already several months you deliver us mostly CRAP.
Huge problem with new novels recently being picked up by qidian
I also don't really like the new selection of novels. there mostly the same as the old ones but sounds really bad.

darkstar123 well game elements and face smacking are popular genres in here lol just look on LOHP and shadow hack always dominating top 3, but yes we need another genre for example kingdom building
i see the picture and title not fun

lazyDaoist That kind of novels have no plot. Cultivation novels can be bad but at least there is plot. Whats more there is a lot of cultivation and martial arts novels which actually are very good and have proper storytelling. So I completely can not understand why qidian delivers us crap while there is huge base of actually good novels.

darkstar123 What is even the difference between gaming system and cultivation anyways? In principle they are the same. In one of them mc gains power by killing shit, getting xp and upgrading himself, in the other mc gains power by killing shit, getting their valuables and cultivating in a cave with the resources... Practically the same end with slightly different paths. They both get heaven shaking skills, they both become op af and they both end up faceslapping arrogant twats everywhere they go...

N0xiety There is difference in story telling. Even the worst cultivation novels are better in story telling than gaming system novels. This is fact. Translating system and virtual gaming novels is simply waste of resources. You can use translators for betters projects.

darkstar123 They are pretty much the same in my eyes. The only difference is that cultivation novels takes it way slower and generally aren't as comedy focused. But the events happening in both styles are practically always the same. There is always some arrogant rich twat waiting to be faceslapped at every corner, always some new higher levelled enemy when mc levels up, always some godly skills, always the heaven defying luck, always the moronic girls throwing themselves at mc... Should i keep going?
Both genres have their fair share of trash. But well, they also both have some quite good novels like Strongest Sytem, Night Ranger, Forty Milleniums of Cultivation, Swallowed Star ect...
N0xiety You forgot commanding wind and cloud. One of the best hidden gems here.

i think qi pick up novel (which novel to be put to vote) based on profitability of similar novel on this site
basically, the people willing to pay decide which novel to be picked .
this is a terrible system if qi care about the site traffic (mostly by non-paying reader)
similar to the porn industry, they keep shooting those disgusting hardcore porn, because people are willing to pay for these, while normal people (don't pay, piracy) prefer soft porn
System novels are the best.
Face slapping novels are great.
Game elements rule them all.
If all else fails, then cheats are acceptable too.
I, and I believe many others, read because these stories make us happy and are enjoyable. Even if a bit annoying at times with certain cliches. I enjoy the power fantasies, and would gladly take more. LOHP, awesome! Shadow Hack.... Piece of shit honestly, the author isn't able to even string together the plot points very well, BUT amazing system and ultra fun as a popcorn novel.
Rather than less, we need more but better systems, face slapping, and game element novels.... Worst case, more cheat novels. That is what makes these novels so much more interesting than they really are. Imagine reading Release that Witch but the MC didn't transmigrate.... Honestly, I'd drop the novel a few chapters in, but because of the weakest and most common cheat, transmigration alone, turned a novel that'd be barely okay into an amazing novel with a lovely MC we all love. Sure some novels are good without cheats/etc like Lord Xue Ying, but those novels are the minority.
Seriously.... ISSTH without the mirror would be much crappier. AWE without the turtle shell might as well not exist given that guy would never have succeeded without it and it'd just be 1000 chapters to finally reach foundation establishment novel. Way of the Devil, awesome novel, without deep blue the novel would be shit, just a creep fest of a weak mc that makes you hate it because weak people suck. Throne of the Magical Arcana, great fun novel but without the library that guy wouldn't even learnt to read till chapter 200. The same is true for most of the most popular and best novels currently being translated.
If you want boring novels without cheats, bland weak beta cuck pussies then just go read most western novels. Even Japans beta cuck character culture are often better than western protagonists who can't do shit and have no magic or martial arts or real skills..... Seriously, for most western novels it takes fan fictions to really be any good. Like Harry Potter is a good novel, but it's only barely good, the MC is weakshit and only knows enough magic to be considered a failure of a student if he wasn't MC, but the FFs actually spread wonder into that world and make it from barely good to a fantastic novel, although fanon isn't canon it still vastly improves the novel. Same for other popular western novels like Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, and etc. The reason you are on a chinese novel site is because chinese novels are awesome, why would you try to get then to translate the ones proven to be like western novels, barely good, when you can translate novels the vast majority of readers would greatly enjoy? It's like making jalapeno twinkies, somebody will enjoy it, for sure, but for gods sake you will lose 99% of your customers if you reduce or stop making regular twinkies in favor of these jalapeno twinkies.
PS: I will admit that western novels are an amazing source of foundations. Western novels are good at that, laying the foundation for magic and then leave it to the easterners or eastern inspired sites like RoyalRoadL to vastly improve your foundations and make it into something we all know and love.......
PSS: The west has good novels, and the east has bad novels. But more often than not the eastern webnovels are superior to a random western novel. Of course this only true for works that get translated. After all, the shitty webnovels aren't translated very often.
There are system novels which are good for example this one Commanding Wind and Cloud but those are exceptions. CWaC is almost not like system novel. Qidian should pick up novels in ratio 5-3-2-1( cultivation- martial arts- system- VR and romance) Because what they are delivering to us now is complete mess. Majority novels in chinese are cultivation novels so you won't tell me that there aren't many good novels among them. There are many excellent novels which we can not even read because qidian is not willing to deliver them. It is like their logic is something like that: give them some of well known novels and later pick up mostly shit.
I just want novels with more character interaction and less fighting

Well everyone has their own opinions...
but these are some things that turns me off from reading further in a novel:
Western, Japanese, Chinese, Russian...
1.) Contradicting it's established Systems.
2.) Brainwashing the readers to believe wrong things.
3.) When MC's are saying they have only have to choose between choices A,B or C... when in fact if you just think, there are many alternatives.
4.) Authors biting more than they can chew, making us believe MC is a genius when he makes decisions bordering from someone with IQ above average to below average.
5.) Authors tries to blab so much about things unnecessary to the novel just to point out that they did their research well.
6.) Unlikable MCs... for others though they like relatable MCs but I can't relate to any MCs for I'm the kind that would relate to side characters more... but other things aside, I don't like MCs who thinks with their dicks/vaginas.
7.) So much skip-able filler chapters.
8.) So many cliche. A few is alright but too much is never okay.
8.5.) weak MC, it's here because it's reasons are 8 & 9.
9.) power of friendship.
10.) less programmed characters.
there are probably still more but these are what I encounter most.
Then these are what makes me happy in a novel:
1.) I like the growing MC kind of novels but the MC must reach the apex with no one considered equal.
2.) When the MC is female, I like when the male lead is suffering. It's a bonus if they don't end up together.
3.) When the mains are a group of people, I like it when they all suffer and slowly die.
darkstar123 It's all about taste I guess. I've honestly been loving the novels
stupid
