I’m just going to voice my dissatisfaction for Qidian so far.
Login stones - they’re random. You have a range from 14-28 stones everyday. Your reading is covered for 1-2 chapters a day. Why can’t we have a regular amount on this?
SS expiration - stones, thanks to this system, are guaranteed to decline. No usage will maintain the amount, while actual usage will decrease your amount until you don’t have any SS left.
Premium - it’s a bad system. Hasn’t this been said enough? Instead of that, I’ll focus on some possible changes.
a. A paid subscription system for FULL unlock on all chapters. For those who want to read multiple premium novels but don’t want to buy ludicrous amounts of SS to keep up. I recommend $5/month at most.
b. Increasing the unlock rate on premium novels. Premium novels shouldn’t have over 20 locked chapters.Community - The majority of people here are good people. However, the obvious greedy business practices by Qidian have instilled dissatisfaction among their users — their customers. I think that’s the heart of the issue here. We aren’t a community of novel readers here at Qidian, we’re a bunch of money trees that complain when we get our leaves picked.
“It’s for the money.” This attitude is poisonous and is easily the motive for almost every, if not all, of Qidian’s business practices. It infects the community too. Many long running customers are bitter about Qidian’s toxic decisions.
It’ll continue too. More novels will be changed to ‘premium’ status while keeping the same release schedule. More premium chapters will pile up. Qidian won’t fix anything because you keep on paying. What makes money will stay.
I predict that SS will have more uses in the future. Levels will likely cost SS post lvl 5. They might even pull an EA and add loot boxes that give chapter unlocks, SS, name colors, profile decorations, etc.
Nothing that makes money is off the bars for Qidian. The community is split, making a boycott impossible. Qidian basically has a monopoly on these novels’ publishing rights. They don’t have any shame either, freely copy-pasting fully translated stories to their platform.
That’s just my two cents though. This won’t change anything, only add to the already bitter community. Thanks for reading.
