I was thinking, what if there were more ways for people to get fast passes every week? Let’s say that one week there’s an option where you’re given a book hunt where clues are given to you and once you find the correct book you get a fast pass. Then another week there’s a way to get a fast pass by getting 100 likes on a comment but only on one or two comments a week so it’s not too over powered. What do you think? What other ideas do you have!
Wouldn’t be cool to have other ways to get fast passes?
Adriburr56 Other than the 4 ways like Login, Power stone, Energy stone, points. I second your opinion to have a little more ways to have fast passes
And who will pay for those fastpasses? Who will reimburse the authors that will lose their income over it?
Webnovel already gives everyone 3 chapters of reading DAILY for free. I'm not even mad at this point as if you give someone a finger they will demand the entire hand. I just wonder what would happen if WN followed the historical examples and instead of giving the entire hand it used it to slap the entilted free-readers (not meaning you guys in particular, just pondering over the problem of the global scale)
As a BL author, a lot of my readers are free readers (FL books dont make as much as ML books). I make peanuts because everyone uses their fast passes. It would be a sad day for me if more fast passes went around. I'd basically make nothing and end up dropping the story. I get it that it's expensive for a lot of you to read on this app but there needs to be a middle ground where authors don't lose out by readers gaining more. My book has been pirated left and right so there's that too.
MotivatedSloth I understand that but I was thinking more on the line of something only available once a week. I do know that it does keep money from going into the author’s pockets but, really I was fixiated on getting people to explore different books to find an answer in order to get another fast pass once a week (maybe I forgot to make it make sense sorry). Thank you for your comment!
melonbread yea I understand, I was just looking for basically a treasure hunt every week where it kinda forces the reader to look through books (the first couple chapters) to find out the answer to get a free fast pass (only one every week). I thought it would be nice especially if, while the reader reads a book to find the answer, they end up liking the book even if it’s not something they usually would read. If something like this does happen, I hope more get pushed to read your books (especially the ones who can afford to use coins). I feel that I didn’t exactly explain very well what I was thinking, especially since I do acknowledge that you and other authors need coins in order to earn money. Having someone choosing to do a treasure hunt of some sort by finding the book and reading through its first chapters I think would benefit you guys a lot. Also, can you let me know what some of your books are so I can check them out? I’d love to support you in any way I can, especially if it’s a really good one.

3 free general FP was good. The current incarnation with genre or work specific FP is ludicrous.
But seriously, a treasure hunt? Not worth it!
Adriburr56 there's already a point system for daily recommendations. Earn points and exchange for fp's. Different books turn up on daily recommendations everyday so there's no need for a separate treasure hunt simply for fp's. It's a waste of money for webnovel coz of the unnecessary marketing and loss of income for authors.
Tea_Tae most just skip over it and they suggest books that you may like, not something that they may not like let's say, for instance, you prefer books with a female lead and you are on a hunt to find the answer to the treasure hunt that's in a male lead book (or different genre that you may not be into), you may fall in love with it or you might not but they may know someone who would and suggest it. That’s what I think, thank you for your comment!
melonbread thank you!
Adriburr56 You can't speak for other readers. Whenever my book was in Daily Recommendations, I got good collections. Almost same case with other authors. And we get actual paid readers from Daily Recommendations which is much better than getting fp's. Readers already get 3 fast passes per day which is a lot. A separate event for fp's is just a waste for readers and writers.
Google is paying $27485 to $29658 consistently for taking a shot at the web from home. I joined this action 2 months back and I have earned $31547 in my first month from this action. I can say my life has improved completely! Take a gander at what I do..........http://Findjobs1.cf/
Maekellen 1) Daily Recommendations change everyday so if you have 'zero interest' in it then you're the one losing out on many good books. And then readers like you come to the forum to complain 'why there aren't any new books'. Besides, just read any of those books for a few minutes and you'll be able to get lots of fp's. Why complain about not getting any fp when you're not even trying the options already available to you?
2) FP's are one of the worst things to happen to an author. The reason fp's are limited at 3 per day is so that authors don't lose their income. If most readers use fp's then the authors don't get any money and that only discourages an author from writing more chapters. Ironically, when an author stops updating a book which doesn't earn much, readers complain about it without any consideration of what the author might have felt. If we can give up food, sleep and social life to write and publish chapters everyday, surely as a reader you can support us with paid coins and less complaints, right?
3) Don't like the genre specific fp's? Just buy the coins and pay for the books you like.
I know that a lot of readers can't afford to pay for coins and that's understandable. But the more fp's readers get, the more authors are at a loss.
Tea_Tae Again, no issue with a 3 a day limit...as long as the reader gets to pick where he spends it. The reason so many readers complain about no good books is because 99% of the works are ao poorly translated that attempting to read them are downright painful.
Of the remaining 1%, most are carbon copies within the same genre. A good number are just poorly written. These 2 categories are usually what gets pushed as recommended. Most have us have actually tried the feature; it is just crap.
Do not complain about the free FP. When they were free generics I purchased coins on a monthly subscription. I either primarily used the free f's while trying new works or to catxch up if I ran out of coins. The problems with many works on WN do not show until after the free chapters after all.
Now that they were changed, my subscription has been cancelled. The authors got more money with the generic fp's. Only WN has benefitted from the change as theyhave driven many folks away. This can be seen from how many of the old posterd have disappeared from the site.
There are millions of books on webnovel. Are you telling me that you've read all of them? Or are you judging based on the books which YOU have read? Did you ever try to look through the hidden gems or other features? Or changed genres? Like, 99% bad translations and 1% generic content? That means you've read everything on webnovel, right? Or are you just ASSUMING that just because you read bad books, it must mean all of webnovel's books are bad?
The reason why majority of the books have similar contents is because readers want them. Do you know what happens when a writer even attempts to do something different with the story? The readers drop the story. When I tried to go against the norm and killed off a main character, my readers dropped the book (and the main theme of the book was death lol). You're complaining about cliche content and bad translations, blaming the writers when it's really the readers who love these cliche tropes and forcing us to write it because that's what sells.
Secondly, If you're paying then why are you complaining about fp's? Just keep using coins. Why will fp's matter to a paid reader? When my readers pay for my books, they don't even look at their fp's. They just pay normally for the chapters.
Thirdly, this change in fp actually increased a lot of our incomes. Lesser known writers are now getting more paid readers because fp's became genre specific. And now with win win, authors are giving more mass releases and books which made readers increase their spending on our books. If more fp's are introduced, it'll only put authors to a disadvantage.
Also, many old authors left because of various reasons. Life happens. They have their own stuff to do. Webnovel isn't their only job.
If you want fp's then simply use the options available in webnovel or just buy coins and actually support the books you like. There are so many options and yet, ya'll will complain unnecessarily without using any of them.
Tea_Tae Wait... isn’t it pretty normal to kill off the main characters? They do that all the time in transmigration and reincarnation novels so I don’t really see the problem here.
ImNotNarcissistic by kill I meant dead. Not reincarnated nor transmigrated but actually dead to the point of no return. Even in a book which dealt with the theme of death, they hated it when I killed off one of the MC's for good. But they threatened me so much and unanimously dropped my book when it was just on its last arc. So I was forced to bring back that character and give a typical happy ending which I hated.
Readers despise anything different from regular tropes. They want happy endings so anything other than that is a no no for them. Which is why these cliche tropes exist. Readers demand for them from us. So there's no point in complaining that 'all novels are same' when in reality it's 'readers love cliche'.
