Kil2 The story remains part horror for atleast 170ch... but slowly the horror element is scrapped off(As the fear of unknown disappears as the world opens up to us) and replaced with more mystery and politics along with surviving in the world and carrying the hopes of his family and sect.
Mortals are just insects and food for the spiritual beings(demons, ghost, anomalies and the Nobleman). They are literally food and cannibalism is pretty common in this world(but due to MC having modern sense of Morales, it gets a bit messy). (P.S. Mortals can never attain power equal to the weakest ghost or Nobleman, they will remain food forever)
