As they are paid by the word count what's to stop the translator from running on a few sentences for extra income.

For instance
original: walks out the door.
Translated: walks out the door on the left.

The translated sentance doesn't affect the story however it adds extra words so they earn more. Side effect is this also increases the spirit stone cost.

If they were to do this 2 or more times you can see the cost of the chapter going up.
My two thoughts.

    Let's be honest, the original Qidian system encourages padding. The leeway translators have has nothing on what authors had done already.

      I've noted a lot of the writers, ( not the tl'er) sometimes over / reuse lines when there is no need to in any way
      and a good few novels stone unlocks become over the top due to this trick ..
      they should be placing a cap on stuff like this as it is a rip-off and will drive people to pirate sites,
      but with qi, it seems they only ever learn stuff like this the hard way
      which is a pity but they bring it upon themselves

        The pay per word model the chinese site uses encourages padding
