Eh, I can't speak for the Webnovel reader's in general, but, I will give my personal opinions, hope it helps.
Between complex or simple, I tend to prefer simple ones, but it depends a lot on the tone and themes.
While in the vocabulary, I like simple prose or narration without word repetition. No problem with a few obscure words here and there, but when writing, word use is a lot more about instilling a specific feeling in the reader than anything else, so even common use words do the job if they express the wanted meaning. Also, a lot of descriptions and prose is only good when the author really knows what is doing, and something simple and short is way more forgivable if it turns out just meh.
I have a strong bias towards character interactions over all the other elements too, so that plays a huge part in my opinion.
But, in the end, if the story is interesting people will read. And that includes me of course.
