ShoeInk Oh, the genocide is another thing altogether. That's racial violence, so yeah. They're getting interned in camps and sterilized, harvested, killed, etc. because they are Muslims.
But we are talking about something else entirely...of Chinese people murdering other Chinese people because of "face" or whatever. That doesn't happen. It's important to separate the two cases because we're not fighting for Chinese people here, we're fghting for Uyghur people. You're basically making a strawman (?) argument. "Oh, China kills Muslims. That's evidence that they kill political opponents and authors who don't toe the party line for face!" No, it's not. That's a huge leap in logic. Just because they do A doesn't mean they do B.
Also, you want evidence that the party doesn't just kill people for political opposition? Look at the Hong Kong protests. Was there police brutality? Of course. It's bad, and it needs to change. Did anyone die during the protests? Did the police kill any protesters? Did any of the Hong Kong protesters get assassinated? Nope. And then in almost the same year, we had the George Floyd incident in the US where a policeman shot someone for being black. And then the American police basically did the same thing to protesters demanding for Black rights. Hypocritical, but that's not the point. Point is, people tend to lie, exaggerate and make things up about other people without looking in the mirror. "Communism is evil! They censor people for speaking out!" And then the same thing happens in their own backyard. Right. In the end, it ain't about communism, culture or nation.
Racial genocide is different from political assassinations or killing Chinese authors just because they don't write propaganda. Why is the truth important? Because there are people working hard to expose the truth and enact changes (shedding light on the Uyghur genocides, for example), and then you have people spreading lies, misinformation and exaggerations, which makes the activists' jobs more difficult. This isn't a Hollywood movie where rebels just pick up weapons and carry out a revolution. Activists have to liase with NGOs, authorities, organizations, etc. And how are they going to convince NGOs and authorities to help when half their information is based off lies?
You might find it funny, but we always have at least a few morons turn up during rallies and petitions, claiming that X happens or Y happens. When asked for evidence? Oh, they read it off social media, forums, the Internet, Reddit, Facebook, Whatsapp, Wechat. Come on, it's already hard enough to get people to take action, and this is just making it more difficult to convince people to help. The lies and misinformation detract from the real issues. I mean, if you lie to the authorities that people are being assassinated for simply speaking out in politics or because they didn't write about how amazing China is in their web novels, and then they find out, why would they believe you when you try to report to them about the Uyghur cases even though it's the truth? It's a case of boy crying wolf.
