The algorithm for the discount you recieve seems to depend on the number of users who have helped you, the original price of the book, and the "new user" status of the person helping you.
Possible event algorithm tiers:
If 0-8 users, each boost = 5.00-1.00%
If 9-50 users, each boost = 0.10-0.05%
If 50+ users , each boost = 0.05-0.01%
new user boost = x2 (maybe)
