Let's say after you finish your book you'd want to post it on some other sites for a bigger audience pull.
Or perhaps you'd even thought, hey, maybe I could start a Patreon/Ko-Fi so fans could pay to read a few chapters ahead.
Maybe even, you're a bigger-picture sort of person and think, 'Woah, what if once I'm done, I can get an editor to polish up my book and I ship this to a publishing company for a paper edition, or post it on Amazon Kindle as an e-book.
Those ideas are pretty cool, right? Any author would want to see their book go to the next level.
Unfortunately, as soon as you sign an exclusive contract, all forms of marketing for yourself and your work belong to WebNovel. And with this site's biggest marketing scheme being, spend X amount of coins for some crummy badge, you aren't going to draw big unless you write for a popular trope for which the WN masses come here to read (e.g. Overpowered, CEO, System, Romance).
In a word, you won't be able to do anything outside of WebNovel for your book without a CEs permission. And if you read your contract, most of your inquiries will be answered with a simple, No.
Truthfully, the exclusive contract holds you back and is of no value to the writer. They only use it as a tool to guarantee that all books written by amateur writers, if for whatever reason they blow up, can only be milked by them and them alone. To rich and powerful to do their own research on marketable books I suppose, why not 'Catch em' all.'
