Honestly, I like how Webnovel handles reviews. Obviously, things aren't ideal, but lots of what you're unhappy about just boils down to other people having bad taste. This whole system where you can sort reviews by likes, reply to them, and comment on specific chapters or paragraphs is one of Webnovel's few redeeming qualities IMO.

KappaKappa That's what happens but I recall why this was implemented. in the early days of this site, lots of novels were review bombed to extinction for little reasons that mostly amounted to fan translators losing their job. And I was one of those review bombers as a big fan of Reverend Insanity.
I was also appalled by the quality of the translation when compared to the fan one.

But it was incidences like those that forced this system on this site. So you can see why it happened.

Now going back would seem a bit troublesome. All I can say is, if you don't wish for bad novels, stay away from harem/romance novels, those tags are where all the trash accumulates. remove those two and you can find story-focused quality stuff.

Better take a look at the amount of readers who support the book if you want to know whether it is good or not.

Then again one glimpse at the first chapter will usually tell you if it is your cup or tea or not.

The review system has actually improved already. It used to be a daily mission, and people used it only to gain XP. Now you actually have to be reasonably motivated to write one — and mostly popular stories are more likely to be reviewed.

As for the ratings — well, if people liked what they’ve read, you really can’t blame them for being generous in their assessment. I also tend to give good ratings generally, rarely a 3 unless it’s so bad, but I tend to qualify it.

Most authors here are not professional writers, and I do want to encourage and support them, especially if their plot and content is really good. After all, even branded authors need editors to polish their works. To produce something and have it read (and critiqued) while you are working on it is no joke! Especially if English is not your first language!

My thoughts exactly, but until now i didnt know authors can delete reviews

I depends on review swap to get the ratings whenever I first publish a book but, we can differ which ones are the swapped ones between authors and the ones written later by the readers who enjoy the books. I don't delete bad reviews or comments unless if it's full of vulgar words My books are PG-rating despite being romance so I wanna keep even the review and comment section that way
