No rush. I'm not worried about getting reviews for my novels quickly or slowly.
If you skipped updating on Sunday then you wouldn't appear in the filter for daily updates and would stand no chance of appearing there. I don't know how many days in a row you need to update to stand a chance, so you need to stay consistent. You need to make sure you update every day. As for how long it takes to appear? It's luck. My first novel has appeared there 3 times over 3 weeks. My 2nd novel appeared there once while being less than 2 weeks old. I've heard some other authors had to wait nearly a month.
Also, keep in mind that publishing goes based on Beijing time. I use to publish at 6:00 AM EST which is 6:00 PM in Beijing. If I had hypothetically published a chapter at 10:00 PM EST on Friday and 6:00 AM EST on Saturday, WebNovel would count both of those as published at 10:00 AM Saturday and 6:00 PM Saturday, meaning I never have published on Friday! Therefore, I'd be taken out of the daily updates filter.
I also reviewed your 2nd novel in the current contest. You stand a good chance of winning it. If you do then that book will show on trending originals for several days and will be a big boost in popularity. Here's my advice for that book:
1. Read about possessive him/her. It takes readers out of the flow when you mess that up. It seems to be your only type of major grammar mistake.
2. Your sentences run-on with quite a few commas. Maybe break them up a bit.
3. Write as many chapters as you can during the contest. If you can release 3 or 4 in a day on Friday or Saturday or both then you might get a big boost. Try to hit 10 chapters before the contest ends.
4. MOST IMPORTANT: Publish all chapters at 12:00 AM Beijing time. That's when power stones reset and most readers vote for the first novel they read after an update. They just want to earn their SS to read their favorite books.
5. I just tell this one to everyone. This is personal opinion. Remember that conflict drives the story. Whenever I have writers block, I believe it's because I have not introduced conflict between MC and another character, environment, thing, etc. Conflict will naturally drive the story and keep things interesting/exciting.
6. Another thing I tell everyone. This is personal opinion. Make your character do something he normally wouldn't, but in a realistic way. For example, a lazy sword-master isn't interesting to read about. He's lazy, so what's there to read? A lazy sword-master forced to fight despite not wanting to is more interesting, but you have to do it correctly. Make sure your character directs the story as opposed to being directed by it. Lazy sword-master is blackmailed into doing something? (I've made a similar mistake such as this). Lame, now he's just doing what the world and people around him want him to. Lazy sword-master needs to save someone, but is to lazy to do it so he blackmails somebody else into doing all the hard work for him? That's funny and interesting. The world tried to force him to do something and he found a cheap way around it. He directed the story.
There are exceptions to the above rules, but it's what I've found to be true over my 3 weeks or so of writing here so far.
