REQUESTS ARE CLOSED
DO NOT REQUEST. YOUR REQUEST WILL BE IGNORED.
Hello everyone!
I've been looking for practice in graphics/cover-making lately, so I'm taking requests for people who need covers for their stories. <3
Here are two examples of covers I've created for Qidian stories
And here are a few other covers I've made for non-Qidian stories.
For more examples, you can also visit my portfolio to decide if you would like me to make a poster for you! My portfolio is here.
A little about my experience of making graphics-- I've been making them for two years now, and I've worked with over forty requests for people on Webnovel. I use Photoshop CS6 and a little bit of Clip Studio Paint. I'm definitely not a professional, but I enjoy helping people out and making graphics for fun!
TIP
I am not guaranteed to make you a poster, but your chances of me doing so will increase if you check out my stories, Power Up, Artist Yang! or Xue Yao: The Fox Immortal. You don't have to if you don't want to, but I would really appreciate it if before/after requesting, you took the time to read a few chapters and left a review!. :')
General Guidelines
(1) PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM.
This makes it much easier for me to process your request.
- Title:
- Author Name/ Pen Name:
- Link to Story:
- Genres of Story:
- Any Specific Requests: (e.g. specific colors, specific photos you would like to me to include, if you would like people on the poster-- and if so, what kind of person-- such as male or female, etc. etc.)
Don't send me a message asking if I can make you a cover e.g.
Hey, can I get a cover
or
Hello, can I get a black and red cover? I want there to be two characters-- a man and a woman, both in their twenties-- in a field of flowers.
Both are wrong. You will be ignored if you do something like this.
Here is a correct example:
Hi, can I request for a poster? :D
- Title: Power Up, Artist Yang!
- Author Name/ Pen Name: Yao Yueyi
- Link to Story: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11701767605489305
- Genres of Story: Romance, Historical, Transmigration, Drama, Slight Comedy
- Any Specific Requests: I would like the poster to have a generally happy theme to it, with just the MC (Yang Yujia) on it. I imagine her to be a pretty character with long hair and preferably wearing blue, although any color is fine! If possible, I would like there to be some form of 'art' in the poster, like a paintbrush or ink, though if not, that's also fine. In general, I can leave it up to you.
Thank you so so much in advance!
(2) Don't be demanding.
God, I hate working with demanding people. If you're demanding or have a condescending tone in your text, then it's very likely that I'll ignore your request. I don't like hearing people demanding things from me when I'm doing this for others for free. Being polite is always welcome, such as words like "please" or "thank you". Basic manners, you all.
Here are phrases that would not be appreciated.
Make me a poster!!!
I need a poster RIGHT NOW!! Make it as fast as you can!!!!!!!!!!!
Make me a poster. I desperately need one. Make it as ATTRACTIVE AS POSSIBLE!!!!
(3) Don't assume that I know nothing
No need to include in your request requests that are unnecessary. I know how to make covers, been making them for two years now. You don't need to tell me to
Include the title!
or
Make it ATTRACTIVE!
What is a book cover without a title? And do I give people ugly posters in general that you have to emphasize that I need to make it beautiful?
Honestly, I don't want to sound arrogant, but I probably know more than most of the people requesting here on exactly how to use Photoshop and making a cover. I don't need people to tell me how to do it (unless you already know how to make professional book covers... then what are you doing requesting here?). Again, this contributes to a condescending tone that I don't like to work with.
(4) Don't assume that I know everything.
In the end, I'm not you. I'm not a little parasite that grows in your brain that knows everything you're thinking and exactly how your imagination works. I'm actually another human being, as far-fetched as that may seem. So, I have my own set of beauty standards and skills and imagination, so what I think and what you think could be two completely different things.
an example to this concept...
Think of a purple flower. Which of the four below looks the most like something you would think of?
and yes, the sunflower is there because there are times when people say vague things in requests and I take it the wrong way, which can be compared to a purple flower vs. a yellow flower.
Therefore, even if your request is super detailed, what I will be able to create is probably not what you're imagining. To prevent this disappointment when I am finished with your request and you realize that it's nothing like what you've imagined, simply give me a few guidelines and I'll do my best to follow them.
Or, even better, include a phrase that sounds like this in your request.
I'll just leave most of it up to your imagination!
That will make me a happy designer, and if you include that phrase, you'll have a 99.9% increase in the chance that I'll accept your request.
And of course, if you're unable to give me complete freedom to interpret, this is an example of a reasonable set of guidelines that I can follow easily.
I would like two people on my poster. One is a girl wearing a set of oriental Chinese clothes, while the other is wearing more modern day. They shouldn't resemble each other, but somehow place it in a way that suggests transmigration. If you can, I would like to keep the overall poster rather simple.
Of course, there are also times when requests go a little too over the top with details, and that leads to my next point...
(5) Your request shouldn't be overly detailed.
Some people have legitimately crazy requests that are so detailed that I have no way to replicate them. I DO NOT DRAW THESE COVERS! I am a graphics designer, someone who takes online images and manipulates them to fit them into a poster. I have my limits, and if you request for too many crazy things in one poster, I wouldn't be able to do it.
Here are some (actual) examples of times where requesters go overboard with what they want for their poster.
I need a cover with several characters (my mc change each arc).
Character 1: a bulky man in black robes with his head open, we can see his brain (he actually often change it so there can be some bottles with brains inside around)
Character 2: a man (20) moving the veil of reality with his right hand (you can represent it the way you want)
Character 3: a young woman around 17 riding on a giant religious mantis
Character 4: a 20 yo man with a cow-boy hat, a sci-fi pistol and an idiot look.
Character 5: a young woman (16) writing on a book (a diary).
right side of the cover will be the back of a man, wearing a white robe with his left hand stretched out, his hand will be clutching a square city,
he is visibly "Crushing" the city. since it is a square city, the places where his fingers are will look crushed and debris will be falling out of the city/palm.
I want the man [insert complicated image] in black hair with black obsidian eyes to hug the girl [insert complicated image] in white silver hair with blue emerald eyes while their face are facing front toward the readers, their clothes is same as in the picture also their background is apocalytic world like in thank you.
Honestly, I just want to applaud these requesters for having the imagination to think of these requests in the first place. It sort of just clearly displays how new these people are to the world of graphics-- it's impossible for graphic designers to make these sorts of posters unless they spend DAYS on it, and I am not willing to do that.
Give me some air to breathe. Again, this comes back to the whole concept of "I'm actually someone who's NOT you!" because I'm not. We're not going to think the same way, and it's impossible for me to make posters that fit every single criteria you have.
If you want posters like these, good luck finding someone who will make them for you. Or even better, learn how to make graphics yourself so that you can realize how difficult it would be to complete your request!
I'm not some sort of god who can wave my hand and "wow, look, a cover!". It's not that easy.
And, as another note that I would like to mention-- I like to make visually pleasing things. And although it sounds good to you, do you have any idea how disgusting it would be to have a poster with people with split heads and all their brain spilling out while a "giant religious mantis" is running around? Sorry, but my idea of 'beautiful' just doesn't seem to work like that. So, please think before you request of whether your request is even reasonable in the first place.
TL;DR
Just be reasonable!
All in all, I think I'm a pretty reasonable and nice person. If you're kind to me, I'll be kind to you. Easy policy. And a happy designer also means a higher chance of your request being chosen.
A few last things I would like to note:
Be sure to use the form. If you don't use the form for MY thread, then don't expect a poster at all.
I am not obliged to make you a cover. There is nothing that will stop me from quitting this thread. I'm doing this for the community out of sheer good will, so please be nice as well.
Don't two-time aka don't request at another thread and request at mines as well. Choose one or the other. I get that there are other threads out there with different styles than mine, and I get that one thread may appeal more than the other. Doesn't mean that you should post your request at all those threads and get 190384109284 covers for your story though, and end up only using one. That's really, straightforwardly speaking, rude. I put effort into making these, and I don't make them for you to just use someone else's cover. Now, if you don't like the poster I make and then go to another thread to request after receiving my cover (& vice versa), then that's fine! I get that. But if you just want to hoard covers, don't request here.
No redoes. This is just my policy because it takes too much time and I would like to get to as many requests as I can. If you don't like the poster, feel free to not use it.
I like oriental Chinese posters. If your story is set in ancient China or uses ancient Chinese culture, do note that in your request! Your request will likely be chosen if that's the case.
I am not obliged to tell you whether or not your request is chosen or not. Instead, I will like the posts that I want to do. If you do not see a like on your post after a week or so, assume that it's been rejected.
Please no mobile/dynamic links. They get sort of annoying after a while! I would prefer a normal, desktop Webnovel link as such: https://www.webnovel.com/book/11701767605489305/
Don't request if your novel title is terrible For real. If the length of your title is longer than five words & if it has bad grammar, chances are that I will likely not make a cover for you.
No newborn/unpublished fics! I will not make a cover for a story with less than 10 chapters because I don't know how committed the author is to the fic. So, don't request if your fic doesn't fit the criteria of 10+ chapters.
No, I will not email you or contact you on discord, so stop telling me to.
Disclaimer: If anyone gets copyright issues for using my covers for a premium novel, that is not my fault. It's the authors own choice on whether or not they want to risk getting copyrighted.
Overall, I think everything that I've mentioned in here is pretty understandable. Feel free to argue with me if you don't think it is.
Cool? Cool.
Have fun requesting!
