    Title: Temptation Chronicles

    Genre: Urban/Magical Realism - Superpowers

    Link: https://www.webnovel.com/book/temptation-chronicles_20485815105738205

    Synopsis:

You know you want it. Come on, click on it. Give in to [Temptation].

Born into a family of heroes, Dan Atys, son of some of the top heroes of the world, was an absolute [Low Tier] loser. Getting bullied was his bread day in and out.

What do you think happens to someone like that? I mean, he was raised by heroes, groomed to be one. You'd think he'd turn into one as well, right?

Turns out, Dan thought not. The abuse has messed with his mind, and even his powers didn't seem to affect the people who blindly follow principles. His power, [Temptation] , is a superpower that affects the mind of the afflicted. The only condition that is needed to be fulfilled, is that Dan wills it so. Up to this point tho, he thought it's a charm effect, that has a positive effect on those surrounding him. This usually worked this way, but for some reason, ever since he enrolled into the prestigious School of Herocraft, Heracleon, named after the first superhero in history, his powers didn't seem to affect anyone. No one wanted to be friends with him, and all the affection he had from others, was through extreme abuse. They wouldn't just beat him up, they would torture him both physically, and mentally. So much for those "heroes."

After realising his true potential, the ability to manipulate just about anyone in the world, he thought it would be natural for him, to "stray" from the path of "heroes."

    • You know what? Fuxk it, Imma post it again.

        • DaoistKaname I think there's a google translate addon to the browser version, but it's kinda garbage. Other than that, I think you might be able to request a translation, but those would need at least a few hundred, if not thousands of people to request the same thing.
On another note, if the book you're looking for is in a (generally) south-east asian language, there's a high-chance, they'll translate it eventually.

          • I sadly don't have much freetime to read, but I'll point out a few things I noticed looking at it.
First off, this is the one, correct?

First thing: you could bite into something hard if you don't credit the creator of your book cover, assuming it's not you.
Second, learn how to capitalize the letters in your title, it matters a lot. I could instantly tell you're new, even if you didn't explicitly say.
Third, make a longer synopsis. There's this thing called the 'Holy Trinity of Webnovel': 1, Title. It has to be catchy, interesting. 2, Book Cover. Has to be eyecatching again, you don't want it to look bad, or people won't click. 3, Synopsis. If you don't have an interesting description of your story, how the hell is the reader supposed to pick it out? There's a lot of cool looking covers, and titles, but what decides for most in the end is the synopsis. If you look good, but lack a decent synopsis, no one will read it.
Fourth, choose the way you title your chapters. You don't need to do this, but then stick with Chapter 1, 2, etc. Don't change it halfassedly midway through. On the same note, try not to use the 'The ...' titling system. It's boring, it looks like you don't put effort into it. It's okay once in a while, but not too often.
And Fifth, I don't want to be annoying self-plug person, but take a look at only these details in my novel, for reference only.

I hope I could be of help, and sorry for not being able to read it.

            • maybercay I noticed you pop up in the notifications, thanks for the support! :D Hope you enjoy it ;)

              • Benny_Manatee

And now I thought that rather than just telling you what not to do, I'm gonna compile a short list of do's and don'ts of titles, in MY opinion.

1, Don't use 'The' at the end. There's a lot of titles, where the author decided to go with the definite article, and it's mostly in regards of the main character, which brings me to
2, Don't describe the MC in the title. This should be obvious, but titling your book with 'The Best Prankster" or "The Top Thief of the Land of Bliss" sound super boring (Don't look these up I literally came up with the on the spot.
3, I understand, that in the east, it's pretty popular to form sentence-titles, like famous ones are: "That time I got reincarnated as a Slime", or "Blessings to this Wonderful World (Knosuba)", but in reality, those work best in that niche. If you're putting your work out to a certain culture group, then it's okay, but if you want other readers as well, then I'd recommend you don't make titles like that.
4, Don't use superlatives, or anything similar: Super, Supreme, Best, Strongest, etc are super boring for titles. Sure, they sound cool, and unless you want your primary audience to be around 13, than it's okay, but generally don't. Again, unless it's a very important plot point, taht you'd like to emphasize. Compare "Super Fist Man" with "One Punch Man". Which would you pick?

Okay, enough Don'ts, here are the Do's:

1, Take your full story into account. Are you writing a Fantasy? Is it Sci-fi? Pick a title that would suit the genre. E.G.: Imagine if the Lord of the Rings were titled: "Ultimate Alliance of the Ring" It does make sense, but that's more of a sci-fi title. What about the main topic of your story? Is it about adventure? Dungeon crawling? Space battles? You have options, try to depict them in the title.
2, If there is a primary concept in your story, that will be the driving force of the plot, try to implement it in the title. I hate to bring this up, but it's a decent title: 'Sword Art Online'. Short, and to the point. You'll know what the story is going to be about, mostly, just based on the title. Another one, and I know most of my references are anime/manga, but idc. 'Food Wars'. Obvious, and you'll have a general understanding of the story before you even read it.
3, Contradicting my previous point: Don't use only that one concept in the title. Say, your story focuses on the development of one's chakras. Don't title it 'Chakra', cuz it'll sound stupid, and it might be placced into the esoteric section of your local library. Go for something like 'Chakra Horizon' (Now I realize that this was a horrible idea, but that's the best I can make of it.
4, You can make your title around a concept, like betrayal, and title it something like 'Betrayed and Left for Dead' or something. Don't be afraid of experimenting. You'll have a bunch of ideas, only some of which are gonna be decent.

                Okay, I'm out.

              • Dzeeck I'm becking you on this.
Title's way to generic, try with something more unique. We have enough of 'Strongest Monarch', 'Strong System', whatever. A title should always be unique. Something, that you'd spend days on thinking about.

'Who will become the strongest' sounds like a lazy title. It sounds like you spend two seconds flat thinking about it, and decided to go with your 6-year-old self's coolest idea.

I know I'm harsh, but after all, you might want to turn this into your life, and your primary source of income in the future. If you can't think of a better title, you'll die as an author.

The one thing I remember my CE tell me a few months ago, when I was puzzled about uni+writing at the same time, was something like: 'This is business, don't be naive.'

                I live by those words.

                • Calling all the lurking authors to personally recommend their own stuff... You're a brave, yet foolish reader.

                  Take mine:

                  • I'm joining in on the 25 word run lol

                    Solitude

The doors shut behind him. Finally, alone. After a brief bliss, and some quality time, they bolted: “Fifth floor, please leave the elevator with caution.”

                    • It's kinda true for the entire WN staff tbh " I messaged my CE like two weeks ago, and he still hasn't responded. He usually does ina few days tho.

                      • Lorepheus I did the same for mine. I had a good friend, who works in the illustration industry atm, do it for me. I'd say I'm really impressed. If you wanna check her works out, you can get her insta link in my book's synopsis.

                        • ShoeInk Well, I didn't think I could ever plug my own novel for educational reasons lol
                          Here's the link

So the way I do it, is I only write in the First Person if it's the main character's POV. If I want to include a bit about other characters, when the MC isn't paying attention to them, or they are ina different place, then I switch to Third Person Narrator style. This way I can more or less assure that I have a fluid way of telling the story, and give multiple inputs for the readers. For example, if I write a fight between one of the main crew, and some antagonist, then I'd usually write it from the POV of the antagonist, or at least go for a heavy description on their stance, views, and reactions from a non-personal POV.

I hope that made sense lol. Never had to explain it before "

                          • I ran into this, and so far it's been because they removed the comment. It doesn't delete in your inbox, so you wouldn't know, until you go and check it in the actual paragraph.

                            • Tomoyuki You technically do, but with the 50% cut for WN. As an author, you are the copyright holder, and WN is taking care of all legal measures in your stead, thus essentially making them copyright holders. And I think the contract has a bit about sequels, where you'd need to publish them on WN, instead of a third party site/company, unless it's an affiliate company of WN. For example, if you wanna go over to say RoyalRoad after finishing one book here, and you wanna start a sequel there, you're technically not allowed to do that. You'd have to go to a company that's a property of Cloudary Holdings Lmtd., or Tencent Pictures. So you could technically get a movie sequel done at Tencent, and that'd be allowed, but not with say Netflix (unless they offer it, e.g.: If you win Spirity)

                              • Tomoyuki Well well, I wasn't expecting you to remember my rewuest after such a long time lol Thank you, I'll definitely check it out!

                                • Well, November is here, and I still haven't seen any October or November thread, so I'll post it again.
