General reply to the entire thread here on everything:
No one is arguing that anyone's content should be delivered for free, but the fact is: WebNovel IS giving your content away for free. Asking consumers to pay out of shame/kindness is naive at best. If everyone is receiving whatever content for free as the app stands today, why would anyone decide to pay? This thread has turned into free users vs authors/translators, but we only interact through Webnovel. Their entire purpose is to sell your content to me/us. I'm sorry they are still doing a poor job of paying you, but calling me/us theives for accepting what is offered free isn't going to change anything. What will change it is me/us consumers simply not buying. That has always been my point. The current model doesn't entice anyone to purchase, and yes, WebNovel DOES need to entice consumers to spend. That's why content producers are sending in their works, so WebNovel can sell it to me/us consumers.

Also, I truly thought this was supposed to be a free app. Literally nothing about it seems like a subscription service.

I misspoke, it was called "membership." Unlimited reading for a set price per month. Yes, WN had it, and the "subscription" type of setup appealed to me more than the "pay as you read" setup WN has been trying.

Cantiara Well, guess what, you shouldn't have to pay just because it was in your good grace to do so. You should pay because the content was never yours in the first place.

This is a free reading app, yes it's entirely my will whether or not to grace an author with my money. Are you trying to shame the free users of webnovel? What's with the anger in this whole response #2? Seriously this app is free, unlocking chapters is free if you're willing to wait for it, and many, many people consume many of these webnovels without paying the authors/translators a single cent.

I'll be clearer here: Once a user decides to support an author by unlocking privileged chapters you cannot use the fast passes anymore. Sure on a different novel, but actually supporting your favorite authors means you can no longer unlock any chapters with the free passes.

Cantiara Don't worry, paying readers who can afford to buy and still have some decency and integrity will still purchase the coins.

We will see I suppose. WN has gone through quite a few different approaches now and if this isn't what works I'm sure they'll change it again. I guess you can attack me for saying this probably won't work, but you seem to be against the core of webnovel, which is that this is a free reading app.

Arkinslize ah, well, they've made it much less enticing to purchase anything. When there was "privilege" I happily purchased and felt great about supporting the translators/authors. When they took that away and switched to opening chapters early, I happily paid that too, support the translators/authors! But now if you purchase, you're cornered into only purchasing more, not even able to enjoy the basic "pass" free users are able to enjoy. It no longer makes sense to purchase anything . Hopefully WN will figure it out, but until then I doubt anyone will be purchasing anything.

Lappidappi Having actually finished the whole first chapter, whoa. Slow down dude. There's only one "scene" in the chapter, the meeting in the library. Everything else is info dump (you just stating what happened), which is extremely boring to a reader. This one chapter should be at least 10 chapters or just leave the whole thing out and start them as androids. I get the info is really important, but it should be shown through conversation and situations. I love when characters fall in love, the sweet path of meeting, flirting, confessing, learning to care for each other. You go from "hey I speak English" right into "we've been dating for years like a married couple" to "we're old and still love each other, let's get technology implanted and stay together" in like 5 pages. It's way too fast or just unimportant to begin the story with. Create more scenes and dialogue to get your information to us. Introduce more characters and have them chat. Describe where they are/what they are looking at to detail the world.

Lappidappi okay, you've done a long and very boring "info dump" about your main character as the very beginning of the first chapter. You're trying to hook in readers those first couple of pages, not explain the main character yet. Start with his introduction of himself or a bit of humor or some action--something that'll interest a reader. We'll discover the MC's views of the world/situation as the story progresses, info just dumped like that will just be skipped or even completely turn off a reader.

Maybe these authors and translators could move to Kindle, that'd be great.

They're probably waiting to see if sales will improve after premium is gone. We'll see, I suppose. Who will last longer? Those holding out for premium or those who can't find their novels elsewhere...

Between readlightnovel, wuxiaworld, and boxnovel I'm not missing anything . Also webtoon, mangatoon, and mangarock have tons more comics. Check em out if you're getting frustrated here!

ssound5rs but webtoons is awesome. You don't pay per episode, just read until you catch up with the author/artist/translator. If anything I wish webtoons would pick up some webnovel comics!

SneakyMinx before my premium ran out I was averaging 1500 mins per week (yeah, I know, no life). I averaged 400 last week, and probably less than 200 this week . They keep playing, I'll delete the app. There's plenty of other places to find books.

Well, the only thing that speaks is $$$. So search up your favorite novels and comics elsewhere. If we want premium back, we'll have to show them that we're unwilling to spend without it. Otherwise I'm guessing we're stuck buying SS. Well I'm not cuz most of these novels/comics are elsewhere on the web.

But seriously, the only reason I bought the premium service was to actually pay for the novels because I had just been searching the internet and finding the novels for free. It feels wrong, especially when the novel deserves to be bought.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL so, is the premium service gone or will it be revised? Because I went from reading 4-6 hours per day to maybe one . $20 in SS is barely enough to keep up with 7 novels for a week.

So now that premium webnovel is gone, how would I be able to read on an airplane? Does unlocking each chapter download it or do I have to download each chapter? It was great when my premium was working, but I read a lot...
