I read all genres. I've read plenty of reference books/textbooks, nonfiction, science fiction, fantasy, and have tried romance novels. There is nothing that keeps me from reading it if it has good ratings, or has been recommended to me.
So it's heading towards something like a Reddit styled upvote and downvote system?

There are only 5 levels as of now. I'm sure they have made plans on how to progress already since a majority of the users here are close to level 4 already.
Honestly, I think they can do what ever the hell they want to. It's up to you to decide if it's worth picking up. Qidian International themselves decided that this site would not aim to be for profit for the time being and translators are free to translate what they want to.

I've heard that the overly detailed descriptions is what make readers shy away from it after reading the first few chapters. There's a lot to read out there, and not everyone is patient enough (I'd just skip details) or have the time go through extremely descriptive content.
