  • ActiasLuna You're missing about three to four exclamation marks in that praise. I'm withholding half of the cookie-bribe as punishment. '-'

    Luna-senpai!!!!! is so cool-desu.

Look, I gave you more than you asked for - u - Where's my cookie?

  • @Nou is too humble~ You're not giving yourself nearly enough credit. I bet this is a plot to be like those undercover MCs who lurk about until it's time to show their full glory!

Oh, and that cat was my friend's! I was trying to keep the readers' attention by promising cats though, so I had to deliver XD

    • TheLonerLion Thank you! But I really can't claim that title haha~ There are so many editors that I respect in QI. Editing is much more than a score :) I have a lot to learn from them.

      • checkm8 Thanks! It's always nice to meet a fellow Avalon fan. It's one of my favorites as well (no bias haha). As for applications, I filled out a form to receive the editing test, they sent it to me within a day, and then once I returned it, they replied to me with news of my acceptance within a week. I would definitely shoot them another email sometime this week to inquire about your results!

        • shelwyn Thanks, Shelwyn! It's encouraging to know that someone enjoys reading the series as much as I do~ But of course, I really can't claim the credit all by myself~ The translators and fellow editors on my teams work just as hard, if not harder :) Although, if you bring me a cake, that's a different story altogether.... I wouldn't mind keeping that to myself ;D wahaha~

          • Luta Yeah, I was surprised by it, too XD I saved it for memory safe-keeping hehe

          • Calm_Spirit Hey~ it definitely took me longer back when I first started to edit, so while I don't remember the exact time that it took me to edit the test, I estimate about four hours. My version had three sections, each containing a short excerpt with deliberate mistakes sprinkled throughout. You could say it took up about three Word document pages.

            • Chrissy Pftt XD Th-thanks? Hmm... slightly dissatisfied. I'm cute now, too!!!

              • Hi hi~ I generally lurk around, but I decided to actually enter the light today (it burnnns) and introduce myself before disappearing again. Don’t expect anything as awesome as Gem’s introduction. She had cats; I do not. Or do I…? waggles bait Keep reading to find out.

Let’s see. I’m one of the editors for AFE (Avalon of Five Elements) and MPAW (I Have a Mansion in the Post-apocalyptic World). I’m currently a grad student, and I live in a certain city on the east coast of the U.S. of A. By the way, please excuse the dead tone. I’m normally a very bubbly girl, I promise. This little train that can’t is running on coffee fumes and very little sleep.

(By the way, can you guess where I live? Five hundred points to Gryffindor if you can!)

I chose Lis as an editor pseudonym back when I first joined QI in April and later decided to make it my real name, so now I’m actually called that by my friends and Uber drivers—the two groups of people I would tearfully dedicate my successes to if I were to ever win an award. I’m even considering whether I want to go through with the legal mumbo-jumbo to make it official, but that’s neither here nor there.

My love affair with words began in my early childhood. Reading was an escape for me, as it was for many of you, I’m sure. Imagine my surprise when QI came knocking around. What, I can do what I love and make some side-money? Sounds too good to be true!

But it wasn’t. It was so more much than I could have hoped for~

I first applied on the QI website, back when their website was a bit janky huehue~ teasetease They sent me a document to edit, I edited it, and they came to me on their knees, begging me to join them because that’s how awesome I am. cough It totally happened like that. Oh man, their test made me want to gouge out my eyes. Tenses, subject-verb agreements, and even names switching around willy-nilly…. Whoever made that version, don’t reveal yourself to me. I’m afraid of what I’ll do to you.

But actually, sometimes that’s how the editing process is. Because the author’s original work is first translated before being handed off to an editor, there’s a bit of a sense of playing the game Telephone. It takes a lot of teamwork, and when the TLC does the final check over the chapters only to find a terminology error, well… let’s just say that I’ve had to go back and change one or two things a hundred chapters ago. I have to admit, I’m a bit of a nag to my translators and fellow editors haha~ They actually thank me for pointing out errors though, and I appreciate it when they do the same for me as well. We’re all masochists here. Smh.

But you know, the people that I’ve met here are some of the weirdest and nicest ever. As much as I love the stories themselves, I stay in QI despite my busy schedule because of the translators and editors. I can’t interact with them that much anymore because I sleep five to six hours and spend the rest hunched over a desk, but I treasure the connection I have with them in this small corner of the world.

Now to break the sappy mood, I’ve come to deliver a cat to you!

“Nice to meet you. My name is Lis. I am dead inside.”

Notice that blank stare…. Not even a Phoenix Down will save me nyaow.

                Aha. A hidden tribute.

Anyways, I got two suggestions from my editors: upload a photo from my childhood, or one where I photoshop what I think I’ll look like in the future.

I do this for you two.

And as for how I see myself in twenty years? I answer this the same way I do for job interviews.

I’m gonna be a freaking Gundam. Props to those who recognize it. You are my people, and you have my permission to use this for your job interviews as well. Go for it, champ, and you’re welcome.

And lastly, a special shout-out to the peeps reading my series. You guys are always saying thanks, so here’s my chance to tell you guys that I appreciate your support and encouragement to the team. This little train is chugging away to Sleepsville.
