my only thoughts on this is that its a bit arbitrary to separate them. whether the intention behind it is female/male protagonists, or the target audience is female/male, doesnt really matter now does it? people are going to vote on what they want to read, vote on what they themselves want to vote on. how they're categorized doesnt really matter.
even if there is an increase in new novels, it'd actually be less helpful to have them divided by category as some ppl new to the system may miss the slider altogether and think the only options they have to vote are female. thinking to that end, perhaps that was the designers intent; to indirectly throw more votes in that direction? i cannot be sure, but as previously stated for ppl who actually consider what they want to vote on, this division means nothing.

i dont disagree with the OP, but might i suggest that, since most novels here are chinese in origin, using that countries standards of what the "mature" tag actually is and should be. i dont think a culture who's main source of entertainment is "memes" and "trolling" has an adequate grasp of what the word "mature" even means, so its probably best to not let them decide what is or isnt mature with written works.
@WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL if you've not seen the first thread posted about this please see this one. would greatly appreciate this feature removed or made optional. the new comments section at the bottom of the chapters is problematic. its distracting and unpleasant for readers, as well as unnecessarily messy.
i dont like this either this is very upsetting. especially when people leave their comments about the chapter as im reading it. my eyes tend to wander its not like im only reading the text while reading the story. seven times now have i "accidentally" read the end of the chapter via somebody elses comments because i was distracted by it. there's already the comment section guide on the side of the page, now there's one underneath the comments.. what if i possibly dont care about the comments? what if i just want to read my story in peace?
