CrispyCritter This is exactly the problem I have with webnovel right now. The system as-is makes me really hesitant to open up new books to read since it costs so much to get through the archive! Once I’m caught up, it feels worth it to pay for the new chapters, but being being unable to read through the archive (or, more likely, skim through most of it) makes me hesitate starting any new books.

There’s an idea I’ve had floating in my head for a while, but it’s just another way to solve that problem. If there was something like an elite subscription for the archives, then you pay using the current system for the 200 most recent chapters, I’d happily buy it. Even if it was $50/month for this “catch-up subscription”, I’d be glad to do it since it’d be a fixed cost and something I could budget for.

I’ve heard that privilege doesn’t work like a subscription though. Rather, you buy it to get the -right- to purchase the latest 15 chapters, which you then pay extra SS for. It seems messy.

I mean, subscription and privilege could work together. Pay the subscription to get to 15 chapters behind, then pay for privilege to read the latest 15 chapters.

I don’t like splitting the comments section like that personally, but functionally there’s nothing wrong with it.

The tab itself is there to track which privileges (advanced chapter subscriptions) you’re paying for.

This was added in the latest update. An example of how it works is the novel “Almighty Coach”, which has implemented it.

Tbh I’m really confused how it works and just what it is you get. You pay 250 SS per month for advanced access to 7 chapters, or 500 SS per month for advanced access to 14 chapters. It seems like those chapters are unedited too? Well, it’s basically a Patreon system implemented into webnovel.

SS you earn from login bonuses etc only last for a single month. If they were paid SS they last forever, though, so you might have auto-unlock chapters on for a novel you were reading and they were decreasing that way.

Subscriptions was such an incredible quality of life thing for me. In 100+ chapter novels clicking the "unlock chapter" button over and over, while a small thing, gets frustrating. Please bring subscriptions back as soon as possible!
