Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anyone's side here nor have I read anything above the first post. I would assume that there are various discussions from the authors' or readers' side. To make it clear, i am one of the authors as well i guess? I found the first post, interesting so here i am replying to it.

Just write at your own pace and make sure that you type out what you intend. Never compromise the quality just because you are pressured to release a chapter. I've never minded the demand for more chapters from readers because, in the end, I/you as the author will be the one to decide when to publish.

You took it upon yourself to publish your work, you need to deal with the pressure that goes along with it. Though i think that the things you mentioned in your post is true, this is a subject that will incur all kinds of reasons/discussions from both sides. as this is the internetzzz.

Readers will never understand what authors go through to write their stuff unless they try and write something and publish it themselves. They would rather complain and pick off the words from your or other authors here to justify themselves. Authors will also somewhat act in the same manner and it will only be a downward spiral.

Please lock this thread. I think only the first post would have mattered as it was supposed to be a message from an author to readers, simple as that. this was not meant to be a debate or discussion.

I actually have somewhat the same issue with my novel where readers shout "there should be a harem tag" or "please no harem"

Though I really don't think about it much as I on;y read the comments to see what they think about the novel. Since we authors don't have control over our own tags or even remove the incorrect ones, i can't really do anything about what tags have been put there.

To me, when i deem a novel i read a harem novel, it means that the MC has trouble choosing between the various choices or straight out chooses more than one. (that's my own judgement of considering one a harem novel anyway) Since mine does not have that problem... (at least I haven't really decided yet?) Even if there are a generous amount of female characters, the MC's focus is completely on something else.

I don't know if this is going to be helpful to you or not but what I do is just write what I already planned while ironing out how to get there. Remember your original thoughts on what is about to happen and do not allow the comments to sway your own opinion because no matter what, some people will not like what you decide. Don't let the comments influence what you write ESPECIALLY the main choices/parts. I'm not saying don't listen to the comments but compromising with "what they are asking for" is a good way for one to lose the intended way.

Take note that most of the people reading your novel may not even be actively commenting. or if they do comment, it's the usual xp sect. Always remember that you have more readers in the dark than those actually trying to impact the way you tell your story. If your getting swayed by the comments, you can always stop reading for a few chapters and just come back at it afterwards. complete the thoughts you have on your mind goes because you are first and foremost the creator of the fiction they are enjoying. the fact that they are following your novel means that they like the content you started in the first place.

Just my two cents. hope it helps

      • Because System became a trend and lots of aspiring authors tend to lean on the benefits of the amount of popularity or views they will instantly gain by making it a system novel. Someone even made a test out of it and proved that just by adding "System" to a novel, it in itself became a sort of clickbait because of the trend. There are a lot of people that can go through it better in detail than me but I think that's the gist of it. it's not like the site has some quality control with the novels released since they lumped together fan fictions and originals together and let loose other novels that are barely even readable. the only quality control I've seen so far is with the overly sexual content that has been removed.

        • Translation for it has been finished @ WW go read it there

          • now its time for Original stones or the separation between originals and fanfiction go go go

          • Special characters too. My chapters get blocked when I use special characters even when I put them on Author's notes.

I wanted to explain something to the readers while using them and had to go to the comments section instead.

          • Throw all of them votes to the originals sections instead. should help the aspirants while delaying the inevitable premium that will sooner or later consume us all

            • why not just bump the old one?

Mine so that I stay on topic =D

              • Oh I agree with this. I want to be able to put novels I've dropped and will drop into a personal blacklist that hopefully even blocks them from showing up when I go to the homepage so that I won't be reminded of why they pissed me off so much it made me drop them.

This would save me and I believe others who are the same from a little stress as well as give a chance for other novels I haven't clicked to check out yet.

This is a matter of "personal" preference and I believe that everyone should at least be able to choose which novels they don't want to see since it will only be linked to the individual account and not for everyone. This would also give webnovel a new statistic which would be useful for them if they do so choose to take advantage or have use for that sort of thing.
